World of Warcraftjust revealed more details about Lorewalking, including how one starts the feature, some of its special UI elements, and the rewards players get for completing each storyline. This new questing feature arrives inWorld of Warcraftas one of the headlining features of Patch 11.1.7, Legacy of Arathor.
Recently, Blizzard locked downJune 17 as the release date forWorld of WarcraftPatch 11.1.7. The final content update ofThe War WithinSeason 2, this patch introduces tons of content, including a campaign chapter set in the Arathi Highlands, the Single-Button Assistant and Assisted Highlight features, and Lorewalking, a new curated storytelling experience.
Now,World of Warcrafthas given fans a closer look at the Lorewalking feature. The journey begins at Lorewalker Cho, whose locations in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, and Dornogal are marked with a new map icon shaped like a book. Players then choose one of the three launch stories – Xal’atath, Ethereals, and the Lich King – after which they begin a unique, curated questing experience inWorld of Warcraft, including both existing and original quests and scenarios. Lorewalking also has two special UI elements: an Ask a Question button that lets fans learn more details on key elements of the story from Cho, and a stop button, so players can pause their adventure and do other content without losing progress unless they start a different Lorewalking story.
WoW Patch 11.1.7 Lorewalking Storylines and Rewards
Each story can be repeated multiple times to earn additional gold and experience, but fans unlock special toys the first time they finish each one. The Ethereal questline grants the K’aresh Memory Crystal, while the Lich King story grants the Royal Visage, both of which temporarily transform the character into an Ethereal and Arthas respectively. ExperiencingXal’atath’s story inWorld of Warcraftunlocks the Echo of Xal’atath, Blade of the Black Empire, which grants a buff that allows characters of any class to experience the periodic commentary the Harbinger offers to Priests who use or transmog the Legion artifact.
Evidence suggestsWoWis already working on more Lorewalking stories. Dialogue from afourth Lorewalking questline inWorld of Warcraftfocused on the Blood Elves was datamined from the Public Test Realm – a story that would be an appropriate prelude to theMidnightexpansion in Quel’thalas. While there hasn’t been any official confirmation that more stories will be coming, Blizzard seems to be excited about this new questing framework, so hopefully, the Blood Elf questline is only the first of many players will see in future updates.
