World of WarcraftPatch 11.1.7, Legacy of Arathor, is officially out, but there seem to be a couple of things missing: Geya’rah doesn’t have any voice acting, and there was no Twitch Drop to celebrate the update. While both have likely explanations for their absences, it is no less notable that this otherwise excitingWorld of Warcraftupdate is missing a few staples.
Patch 11.1.7, Legacy of Arathor, isofficially live inWorld of Warcraft. This update marks the last one ofThe War WithinSeason 2 and introduces tons of exciting features, including Lorewalking, Overcharged Delves, and a new story campaign chapter called Rise of the Red Dawn.
However, there are a couple of things missing from this update that players have noticed along the way. Geya’rah – Mag’har leader and daughter of Durotan and Draka from the alternative timeline ofWarlords of Draenor– plays a major role in theRise of the Red Dawn campaign inWoWPatch 11.1.7, acting as one of the major Horde representatives in the story. That said, as discovered by Wowhead contributor Portergauge, the character seems to be unvoiced in the English version of the live game, despite counterparts Faerin Lothar, Danath Trollbane, and Eitrigg all having spoken dialogue. Additionally, no Twitch Drops were given away to celebrate the update.
Missing Voice Lines and Twitch Drops in WoW Patch 11.1.7
The missing voice lines could technically be caused by a glitch, but it is more likely that they were a result of the SAG-AFTRA video game acting strikes, which just recently reached a suspension. Geya’rah’s voice actor, Laila Berzins, is known for her roles as Xiao fromGenshin Impact,Persephone andDemeter fromHades, and Emberthal, also inWorld of Warcraft. At press time, Berzins has not made any comments about the missing role on social media, but it could be that the missing voice lines were because Blizzard was respecting the picket line.
As for the Twitch Drops, it is likely just a matter of Blizzard not having prepared anything for the update.WoWTwitch Drops began with the release ofDragonflight– version 10.0 – in November 2022 and have since been available for every single update for nearly three years. While not a guarantee, fans have grown accustomed to these gifts, so their absence is keenly felt.
Geya’rah’smissing voice lines aren’t the first ones in recentWorld of Warcrafthistory. Renzik “The Shiv” from Patch 11.1 was also unvoiced, despite having a major role in the campaign. Joe Ochman, a known SAG-AFTRA member, is credited for Renzik’s voice acting, which further corroborates the strike as the most likely reason for the missing voice lines. It remains to be seen if Blizzard intends to record this missing dialogue in the future, but now that the strike is ending, hopefully, gamers will see it added in a later update.
