Playing solo inElden Ring Nightreigndoes limit the player in that they don’t have companions to take enemy attention or deal additional damage. While enemy health bars do scale downwhen playing alone, completing an expedition can be quite challenging on your own.
Along with scaled-down enemies, playing alone can can be made a lot easier thanks to a unique item called Wending Grace, which will help you get back up when you die. While it may seem like the item is not working in some situations, it’s actually working fine, it’s just a bit more situational than advertised.
How Does Wending Grace Work In Elden Ring Nightreign
Wending Grace only appears in merchants when playing a solo expedition, and itsdescription indicates it “rises you from death.“This item is used to pick you up after you go down, even when you don’t have a teammate to pick you up. This item can be found in multiplayer, but it is only a potential legendary reward from bosses, and overall very rare to find.
Wending Grace ispurchased from merchants for 10,000 Runes, and it will be used automatically whenever you go down in the right situation.
The main caveat to this item that’s not listed in the description is thatit will only pick you up when facing aNightboss or Nightlord. If you die anytime during the day against random mobs or even field bosses, you’ll die as usual and still lose your level. This does limit the overall uses for this item, as you can’t save yourself from death during the day and buy another one before the next Nightboss. When playing multiplayer, this item is only used when your whole party is wiped out, and will pick you up as the last member left.
you’re able to have more than one Wending Grace in your inventory, and each will be used, they just don’t stack beyond one at a time per slot. Even with this item, it’s important to pick a class that is well-suited for playing alone if you are doing so, as dying is always a threat when moving so fast:
While dying during the day can be frustrating, your run won’t immediately end, and even with one less level, you can keep moving forward and attempt to win. This restriction on Wending Grace does meanit’s best to buy the item right before the end of a day, and save your earlier runes for leveling up your character and gear.
Dying to a Nightboss means the run is over, so even with the limited use, it’s best to always spend the runes on one, as an unused Wending Grace during the first night can be held onto into the next night or the Nightlord fight. Merchant inventories always shift and are randomized, but every merchant in a solo expedition run will have a Wending Grace.
