Summary
Based on the teaser trailer and images that have been released,Netflix’sWednesdayseason 2 will raise the stakes on the dark and thrilling story fans have been invested in since season 1’s November 2022 premiere.Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) is back for another year at Nevermore Academy, but it’s going to be anything but boring. Instead of focusing on homework, trying hard in her classes, and wondering what her academic future holds,Wednesday will solve another mysterywhile maintaining her singular quirky and bleak sense of humor.
Ortega has starred in many other interesting projects likethe A24 movieDeath of a Unicorn, and it’s great to follow along with her career. However, fans always come back to her time as the eerie and funny Addams Family daughter. Everyone has been eager for updates about what will happen next to Ortega’s unique teenage character. Recently, season 2’s episode titles were revealed, anda recent behind-the-scenes video from Netflix teases more about the new season. Fans will be particularly happy to hear one exciting reveal.
Wednesday Season 2 Will Include More Of The Addams Family
In aWednesdayseason 2 sneak peek video from Netflix, beloved director Tim Burtonsaid something fans will want to hear:“This year we bring the family to Nevermore.“Then, showrunners Miles Millar and Alfred Gough shared an exciting detail about the new season. Gough said:
“There really isn’t a lot of Addams Family lore. So we wanted to delve deeper into the family.”
Millar continued:
“The scope has expanded in terms of character arcs and it’s really fun to see them explore a lot more of Nevermore.”
Some fans were critical of season 1 for not including enough Addams Family references or giving characters like Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) more screen time. It looks likeWednesdayseason 2 will solve this problem andshine a spotlight on these perfectly odd and creepy characters.Recent images showed all the Addams Family characterswho will be in the second season: Lurch (Joonas Suotamo), Fester, Grandmama (Joanna Lumley), Gomez (Luis Guzmán), Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and Pugsley (Issac Ordonez). It will be particularly fun to see how Grandmama fits into the series since she’s a new season 2 character.
Based on Burton, Millar, and Gough’s comments,Wednesday’s relatives will spend a lot of time at Nevermore Academy, which is great to hear. Nevermore is such a compelling setting for a TV series since it’s a place for characters who don’t fit in anywhere else, and the Addams Family has never been mainstream or conventional, either. Since Morticia and Gomez used to attend Nevermore, it’ll be fun to see them back on their old stomping grounds. Maybe season 2 willinclude some traditional gatherings, events, or competitionsand Wednesday’s parents will participate, too. Or perhaps they’ll show up for a surprise visit and notice that something is off at the school, which will prove that Wednesday is right and something is off at Nevermore once again.
Wednesdayseason 2 needs to keep in mind one important part of the Addams Family franchise: the fact that Wednesday and her relatives are fairly close. Even though she’s a tough, rebellious person who likes keeping to herself, she likes being part of her quirky and strange family. It would begreat to see Grandmama, Morticia, Gomez, and Uncle Fester giving Wednesday advice, especially since they know and understand her dark personality. Wednesday is such a fun and singular character that fans would behappy to see season 3 of the hit Netflix show, and hopefully a potential third season would bring back even more Addams Family characters, including Cousin Itt. For now, though, season 2 should also add some fun new details about this unique family.
What Else Was Shared In The Wednesday Season 2 Sneak Peek Video?
Fans will be happy tohear other details in theWednesdayseason 2 sneak peek video from Netflix. Hunter Doohan, who playsTyler Galpin, who is currently at a facility called Willow Hill, said:
“Season 2 has everything people loved about season 1… Kind of like we’ve turned the dial up on everything.”
Gough also shared:
“We were able to top the mystery of season 1.”
It’s exciting to hear thatWednesdayseason 2 will have an even better mystery than the first one, and it’s possible that Gough was referring toWednesday’s highly anticipated stalker storyline. But there will also likely be some big surprises. Thankfully, fans don’t have to wait too much longer sinceseason 2, part 1 will premiere in August 2025.
