Summary
The barista-turned-Hyde, Tyler Galpin, returns inWednesdaySeason 2, and he looks scarier than ever before. Having lost his master, Marilyn Thornhill, he finds himself lost and obviously in a precarious situation. Now isolated from the residents of Jericho and the students of Nevermore Academy, he’s confined to a psychiatric hospital called Willow Hill, shackled and under treatment.
Tyler is a young man manipulated by Thornhill (real name, Laurel Gates), who exploits his condition for her sinister agenda. In Season 1 ofWednesday, she uses him to advance her nefarious plan, to create mayhem and resurrect her ancestor, Joseph Crackstone, with the ultimate goal of destroying Nevermore Academy and killing all outcasts within. But Wednesday thwarts Thornhill’s scheme, and with the timely intervention ofEnid Sinclair’s werewolf formand Sheriff Galpin, Tyler is defeated and taken captive. Though Tyler remains in captivity, the upcomingWednesdaySeason 2 trailer hints at chaos brewing within his mind.
The Exploitation Of Tyler’s Powers And Abilities
Marilyn Thornhill exploited Tyler’s abilities, leaving the young man torn and confused. A broken home and an emotionally guarded father who refused to accompany him to therapy sessions or address the nature of his mother’s Hyde condition were key catalysts in the butterfly effect that followed. The result was that Thornhill took advantage of Tyler’s unresolved trauma, particularly his mother wound, to grow closer to him. Once she succeeded in manipulating him, she enslaved him, unlocking his Hyde form with the help of a plant-derived chemical.Tyler’s therapist, Dr. Valerie Kinbott, came close to uncovering the truth of his hidden identity, but before she could make a breakthrough, Thornhill had Tyler the Hyde eliminate her, and the crime was pinned on Xavier Thorpe.
All the normie and outcast murders, along with the spread of fear and hatred towards outcasts, were orchestrated pieces of Thornhill’s larger game. It rested on manipulation and the exploitation of a vulnerable, yet physically powerful, Tyler.
WednesdaySeason 2: A Roadmap To Understanding Tyler
The imagery of Sheriff Galpin gently cradling Tyler’s bloodied body is the exact kind of moment that generates sympathy for this villain, setting aside his crimes and misdemeanors in favor of how vulnerable and lonely he must have felt to be exploited by the cruel Laurel Gates. AsTyler transforms into his Hyde formin the presence of security officers while being transported to Willow Hill at the end ofWednesdaySeason 1, it becomes clear that he needs help that can guide him through the chaos, tame his volatile energy, and harness his powers. Wednesday herself sure can’t play this role, but the psychiatric facility just might.
What Happens To Tyler InWednesdaySeason 2 Trailer?
Is There Scope For An Unlikely Alliance?
Tyler needs more than restraint — he requires doctors and professional caregivers who can tend to him and guide him towards healing. Given Jericho’s fraught history and the deep-rooted discord between normies and outcasts, Wednesday will need powerful allies by her side.Tyler is one such individual with untapped potential.
InWednesdaySeason 2, Tyler appears as a menacing force, with loads of raw physical power and the potential to inflict serious damage to those around him. His presence in the trailer is an ominous warning that trouble is brewing. Wednesday visits him at the facility, though her intentions remain unclear. His presence serves as a clue to a confrontation breaking out between him and Wednesday. Whether he will break out of Willow Hill remains to be seen. The trailer shows him restrained, charging at Wednesday, and roaring at her. The interesting part, however, is that she doesn’t flinch. At one point, Wednesday’s frenemy, Bianca Barclay, seems to be using her Siren powers to control Tyler.
For Tyler to move forward, he must remain in the secluded location until he learns to control his powers. He is a danger to himself and othersm and needs all the help he can get if he is to recover. Here’s hoping he recovers before a bigger menacing force appears on the scene.
Tyler is dealing with psychological turmoil, the pain of abandonment by his Hyde master, confusion, and rage. All of these things evoke sympathy for his character because, after all, he was a pawn, and not an outright villain likeThornhill or Crackstone. Through his brief interaction, it can be easily deduced that an unlikely alliance is around the corner. The fact that Wednesday visited him at the hospital means that their story has the potential to turn into an uneasy collaboration.
Tyler is formidable, and with chaos once again looming large, it is only reasonable that the show gives him adequate opportunities for recovery and redemption. Tyler’s journey looks promising, and despite his past, he will be an asset to Wednesday. Currently, Wednesday’s army includes her brother and new entrant at Nevermore, Pugsley; her roommateEnid; and her loyal sidekick, Thing. Could Tyler be the missing outcast in her mystery gang? Only time will tell.
Netflix will releaseWednesdaySeason 2 in two parts, each consisting of 4 episodes. Part 1 premieres on July 01, 2025, followed by Part 2 on June 07, 2025.
