Their loyal butler, Lurch, once again takes the wheel, and as the family hearse pulls up outside, they take a long, deliberate look at the academy. This suggests that something ominous is on the horizon, likely linking Nevermore and their family once again.
While the Addams family isn’t outright evil in theWednesdayuniverse, they often speak of having committed questionable acts. They are morally gray characters, but aspire to do the right thing, especially when it comes to their members. Morticia left Wednesday in Thing’s care because she wanted her daughter to be looked after. The Addams family fiercely protects their own, especially when it comes to drawing a clear line between themselves and heinous figures like Joseph Crackstone, Garrett Gates, and Marilyn Thornhill.
Back in the day, Morticia had attempted to restrain her stalker, Garrett Gates, but there was little she could do as he came from a highly influential family. When confronted with atough situation on Rave’N night, she was ultimately forced to kill him in an act of self-defense. Morticia committed this act out of desperation; she is not a killer, and neither is her daughter. The Garrett Gates chapter is behind them, but the Season 2 trailer reveals that some family secrets are clawing their way out.
WednesdaySeason 2: Murder, Mayhem, And An Addams
After much ado about the slasher setting, eerie dolls, and Tyler, Wednesday once again embraces her penchant for solving murder mysteries and finds joy in chaos.“Wherever there is murder or mayhem, you will always find an Addams,“she declares off-screen, asMorticia and Gomez hold Pugsley close, and a police car looms in the background at Camp Jericho. This tense scene is followed by Uncle Fester laughing away in a bubble bath, holding two rubber duckies.
In the following scene, Wednesday walks into a graveyard at night, with the trailer revealing a broken headstone of a certain Addams, inscribed with the words, “Resting in death’s sweet embrace.” Next, Morticia’s voiceover, addressed to Wednesday, serves as a chilling reminder that something ominous is about to unfold.
Wednesday’s Venture Into A Graveyard: Dark Secrets And Dark Words
The haunting scene, accompanied by Morticia’s words,“Every family has dark secrets, Wednesday. And secrets can have deadly consequences,“sounds like the mother is urging her daughter to be careful, and not to dig too deep. Nothing should catch Wednesday off guard in a world as haunting and macabre as theirs. That being said, danger often lurks around all of them like a constant threat to their lineage.Grandmama (Joanna Lumley)and Fester will likely play a part in this drama, but what grave consequences is Morticia warning her daughter about?
In the subsequent shots, Morticia closes an old diary, and the Hyde races toward Wednesday at Willow Hill. There is also an ambiguous shot of a night sky, and then Wednesday assures her mother that she needn’t worry, as she does her best work in the dark. All of these scenes suggest that the mystery of Season 2 is deeply tied to the Addams family’s past, and Wednesday is dead set to uncover these dark secrets. She also has an intense psychic vision at one point.
Morticia’s foreboding voice will not break Wednesday’s resolve to uncover the secrets of her family’s past. The previous season, her parents' history withGarrett Gates came to light. This time, the secrets she seeks are likely buried in that eerie graveyard. The trailer has a summer slasher vibe that grows darker and intense with each shot.WednesdaySeason 2 comes with a mystery that knocks at the haunting legacy of the Addams family. They have their enemies for sure, but this one is deadly. Though the trailer carries a great sense of intrigue and danger, the axe-wielding Wednesday and her experienced team will take care of things. All of them are well-equipped to handle whatever comes their way.
