Summary

Wednesdayseason 1 may have premiered in the fall, but the second season of the hitNetflixseries will bring some darkness and mystery to the upcoming summer months.Part one will be released on August 6th, 2025and Jenna Ortega’s Goth teen will be investigatinga serial killer named The Kansas City Scalperwhilecatching up with her Nevermore Academy classmates. I’m curious about how her sweet roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) and younger brother Pugsley Addams (Issac Ordonez) are doing, and I’m eager to see new characters like Grandmama (Joanna Lumley).

Wednesday’s co-creators and showrunners recently gave a great interview and shared some season 2 details, and I’m excited about what they said. However,I have one main concern about the upcoming season, and I hope this problem can be solved in the future.

I Loved Hearing Wednesday Season 2’s Showrunner Comments On The New Episodes, But I’m Concerned About The Three-Year Delay

In an interview withEntertainment Weekly,co-creators and showrunnersAlfred Gough and Miles Millar shared what fans can expect fromWednesdayseason 2. Gough said:

“The mystery is a little more complex than season 1, but I also just feel like the world is bigger and you get to really explore other characters. Wednesday’s not in every scene, so you get to learn more about Enid [Emma Myers], you get to learn more about Bianca [Joy Sunday].”

Wednesday season 2

I’m excited to hear thatWednesdayseason 2 will dive into characters other than Jenna Ortega’s memorable sarcastic teenager and I can’t wait to see Enid Sinclair and Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), and I think this is a positive change for the seires. However,I’m nervous about the three-year wait betweenWednesdayseasons 1 and 2. Many have pointed out thatthese delays are becoming a trendas fans have beenwaiting three years forStranger Thingsseason 5. Several other shows have followed, and while there are understandable reasons, including the pandemic and 2023 strikes, I think that,ifWednesdayseason 3 is made, it should be released a year and a half or two years after the second season.

A long delay between seasons can hurt a show as fans forget major plot points and lose the momentum of getting swept up in the story. With so many series to choose from these days, including 2025’s most intriguing and memorable new releases likeParadiseandthe Max medical dramaThe Pitt, shows need to take big risks and make a splash. It’s easy for viewers to decide to move on from a past favorite show as there is always a new one to get excited about.

I’m still looking forward toWednesdayseason 2, and I think that the teaser trailer has given fans some good hints of what’s to come. The season will dive into the Addams Family, which is something that viewers have been hoping to see. It’s hard not to wish that, if the show continues, fans won’t have to wait so long. I would be fine with a shorter season of six or seven episodes if it meant less waiting.

Wednesday Season 2 Could Be Scarier, And I’m Excited About That

I was happy to hear a few months back thatWednesdayseason 2 will have horror elements, and Miles Millar gave more details in his interview withEntertainment Weekly. Millar said the writers wanted to ensure that anyone could tune into Wednesday Addams’s funny, fascinating, and dark story. He explained:

“Season 2 definitely has some moments which are more straightforward horror, and we’re very aware that the show is watched by everybody in terms of the age groups.”

Gough added:

“that there’s enough bite to it that it feels that there are real stakes and that people die in this world, and it’s scary at moments. And I think that’s the great tonal shift that the show makes between comedy and horror.”

Watching the Hyde Monsterterrorize Nevermore students and Jericho residents was definitely unsettling, but I wouldn’t call these scenes as frightening as some horror movie moments.I’m glad to hear that the second season is going to be scarier, while still maintaining the light-hearted tone of season 1. Not every show can strike this balance, but I think this one does it perfectly. Although Wednesday was in a lot of danger in the first eight episodes, it sounds like things will get even worse this time around. Of course, that will make for an entertaining season. Thankfully, August is almost here, so fans don’t have to wait too much longer to see Wednesday’s dark world again.
