Summary

Roommates Enid and Wednesday are opposites when it comes to emotions, tastes, and pretty much everything else. Enid is loud (but in the best way), chirpy and bubbly, while Wednesday prides herself on her deadpan, gothic demeanor. Despite their differences, they form a close bond at Nevermore, supporting each other through thick and thin during the first season ofWednesday.

Enid and Wednesday’s arguments, as well as even harmless jabs, are beneficial for their emotional growth and character development. After all, they become closer following their major Season 1 fallout. Though the duo resolve their differences soon after,WednesdaySeason 2 mightchallenge their friendship even more.

Enid & Wednesday Become Friends InWednesdaySeason 1

Enid and Wednesday’s relationship start as mildly antagonistic, thanks in part to Wednesday’s standoffish attitude towards her roommate’s love for color, music, and life. It is also worth mentioning that Enid — the gossip queen of Nevermore— runs her mouth on her blog. Along with the minor mistake of misspellingWednesday’s surname, Addams, she turns her roommate into a gossip piece. Wednesday may not admit it, but she definitely takes some offense.

Wednesday and Enid don’t turn into full-blown enemies, but there’s clear tension between them due to their clashing personalities and the fact that they are forced to share a space. Wednesday’s first order of business is to transform her side of the spiderweb window from Enid’s rainbow-textured aesthetic to a black and white design. This single act sets the tone for their dynamic, with the centerpiece symbolizing the stark differences in their tastes.

However, they gradually begin to warm up to each other, andThing’s unexpected closeness to Enidplays a huge role in that shift. Apart from the simple fact that Enid is a good person and an even better roommate who balances out her stoic, detached, and aloof peer, the two come to realize that they need one another. Wednesday needs Enid as a cover while she continues her detective work surrounding the monster-related mishaps at Nevermore. Similarly, Enid needs Wednesday’s help during the Poe Cup. But more than anything, they both understand that to survive the twisted, macabre world of Nevermore, they have to stick together.

Enid & Wednesday’s Season 2 Storyline — What To Expect

In theWednesdaySeason 2 teaser trailer, the titular character opens the door to their room only to be met with a wild commotion. Amid the chaos, Enid cheerfully greets her, “Howdy, roomie!” In another scene, Wednesday presents Enid witha life-sized doll that bears a human resemblance. Though Enid is creeped out by the gift, she comments on its “super-soft” curls. Wednesday responds with a sly smile, saying that the curls are made from real human hair.

These are just minor interactions, but the real juice lies in what comes next. In another trailer, titled “Sneak Peek: Addams Family,” which also goes behind the scenes, Enid is seen nearly shouting at Wednesday, exclaiming:

“Day 2 of the school year and you are already involved in some grisly murder case! Maybe you are cursed!”

Wednesday’s response isn’t heard, but she will have a sharp clapback ready for her roommate. Enid’s tone in the scene is different from her usual upbeat self. She appears mildly angry, or at the very least, frustrated about getting into trouble again. Enid is also shown tied up in one scene, and in another, she appears behind the barsalongside Wednesday and Morticia. All of this adds to the growing intrigue around what’s going on at Nevermore, and the mention of the “grisly murder case” suggests it’s not business as usual.

HowWednesdaySeason 2 Can Test Enid & Wednesday’s Friendship

Season 2 marks a new chapter in Enid and Wednesday’s relationship — and with every step forward, their relationship is bound to face a few tests. Enid will likely find herself caught up in Wednesday’s pursuit of mystery and murder. She doesn’t have much choice there. At the same time, the plot may take a darker turn, with the two of them becoming targets and inevitably landing in trouble.

Enid and Wednesday clashed before in Season 1, Episode 6, “Quid Pro Woe,” which ended in Enid packing her things andmoving in with Yokoto avoid Wednesday’s company. She does this after their dangerous outing to the Gates Mansion. Enid distanced herself from Wednesday after being deceived by an offer of a seemingly innocent girls' night out, or a “birthday re-do,” as Wednesday described it. In reality, Wednesday used this as a cover to sneak off campus during a lockdown, and Enid rightly snapped at her for dragging them into danger.

“You [Wednesday] will use anyone to get what you want, even if it means putting them in danger. We could have died tonight because of your stupid obsession.”

Wednesday defends herself, saying she’s getting closer to solving the case, butEnid is visibly flusteredby her friends' odd behavior and complete lack of accountability.

History seems to be repeating itself in the trailer, with Enid going so far as to call her roommate “cursed.” Obviously,WednesdaySeason 2 promises to dial up the murder and mayhem, but Enid just wants to enjoy school. After all, it is only the start of the academic year, and being dragged into chaos right away ishardly ideal for anybody.

WednesdaySeason 2 will be released in two parts, with Part 1 debuting on August 6 and Part 2 on September 3.
