Mitchel Berger, Crunchyroll’s Head of Theatrical & Distribution, has recently provided an update on the highly anticipatedSolo Leveling Season 3. SinceSolo Leveling Season 2concluded a few months ago, fans can’t wait to learn more about the next installment of the anime series.
Unfortunately, it seems that the production team won’t be announcingSeason 3anytime soon. While this may be frustrating, everything that has surfaced in the past weeks suggests that they are actually working on something.
Crunchyroll Executive Talks About Solo Leveling
In an interview withDeadline,Mitchel Berger left no doubt that Crunchyroll is invested in keepingSolo Levelingalive as a franchise. After briefly discussing how anime boomed during the pandemic, he added thatSolo Levelinghas been ableto attract both “old-school” and new fans. When referring to the continuation of the series, he commented:
We just concluded Season 2, which did really well for us, so I’m sure there will be more content in future. We’re not sure exactly when, but it will be here and fans will continue to see the story.
Berger’s statement is in line with whatCrunchyroll President Rahul Purinisaid a few weeks ago — Purini expressed hope that the series would continue but said they were looking for “the right time.”
The creators want to work on lot of shows. Anime is really popular, so there’s a lot of demand, and so we have to find the right time to get started on the next season.
Thesestatements are vague, but they make it clear that they have plans, and they are probably talking with the producers to continue the series, either on TV or in theaters. Considering how Aniplex has been handlingDemon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the idea of turning the final arcs ofSolo Levelinginto movies is not far-fetched. Those involved in the production are probably considering the advantages and downsides of making one or moreSolo Levelingmovies. They may also be waiting to see how the first movie in theDemon Slayer: Infinity Castletrilogy performs before deciding ifSolo Levelingshould risktaking a similar route.
When Will Solo Leveling Seaosn 3 Be Released?
So far,Solo Leveling Season 3hasn’t been officially announced. The producer of the anime series has implied that he would like the next season to be released in 2028. This has led fans to speculate that aSolo Levelingmovie could be in the works, possibly to be out betweenSeason 2andSeason 3. At this point, what seems clear is that the series will eventually continue, as the producer, director, and Crunchyroll executives have all expressed interest indelivering moreSolo Levelingcontent.
For now, fans can only wait for further developments. Even if it takes a while forSeason 3or another sequel format to be announced, there is no doubt that the next installment of the anime series will be, at the very least, as great as the previous ones.
