Summary

Disney’sPirates of the Caribbeanis one of the most successful franchises of all time, being the 16th-highest-grossing ever. The swashbuckling film series has grossed over $4.5 billion worldwide, so it’s no surprise that there are constant rumors and speculation over the possibility of Disney creating a sixth movie from this world.

Pirates of the Caribbeanfeatures many iconic, larger-than-life characters who helped bring the franchise to life in a way that was entertaining to people of all ages. A lot of speculation has hung on whether Johnny Depp would be welcomed back to be part of this franchise, but another member of the original cast has now made it clear that they’d like to see another movie made.

While Captain Jack Sparrow is often seen as the lead character in thePirates of the Caribbeanworld, Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner is equally important. His journey from blacksmith to pirate is crucial to the franchise, with the romance between him and Elizabeth Swann also being a vital story thread throughout the movies. While he’s had a lot of success in his career, Bloom recently admitted toThis Morningthat he’s open to being inanotherPirates of the Caribbeanfilm.

“Well, I don’t know, I can’t say anything at the moment because I really don’t know, but there’s definitely availability,” Bloom said. “I think they’re trying to work out what it would all look like, I personally think it’d be great to get the band back together. That would be great, but there are always different ideas, and so we’ll see where it lands.”

Bloom’s main run in thePirates of the Caribbeanfranchiseended after the third installment, as he wasn’t part of the fourth movie in any capacity. However,he and Kiera Knightley made brief appearances inPirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which had fans excited about the possibility of them reprising their roles again in a more prominent role for a sixth film. Bloom has a history of returning to major franchises he was once part of, as he reprised his role as Legolas to be part ofThe Hobbittrilogy, and seeing him do it as Turner would prove to be a big hit with audiences.

Depp is arguably the most significant question markwhen it comes to the original cast after he and Disney had a public split after he had been accused of domestic abuse. The veteran actor lost a $22.5 million deal with Disneyover that, and he then sued Amber Heard for defamation, which was a case he won. Since then, Depp has been dipping his toes back into the acting world, andPirates of the Caribbeanfans would welcome him doing so in what is arguably the most iconic role of his career in this franchise. The possibility of bringing many of the original cast back together would attract a lot of nostalgia for people. Still, there are also a lot of moving parts in making that happen.

There hasn’t been aPirates of the Caribbeanmovie since 2017, but with Bloom openly interested, the pressure on Disney to deliver one more tale is only growing. Disney Entertainment’s co-chairman Alan Bergman has previously claimed that they will bemaking anotherPirates of the Caribbeanfilm, but there has been a lack of details on the project since that point. However, with fans certainly interested and original cast members teasing a return, it does feel like Bloom’s hopes of getting thePirates of the Caribbeanband back together stand a good chance of coming to fruition.
