It has beenalmost seven years now sinceThe Elder Scrolls 6was first revealedwith a vague cinematic trailer. No location for the game was confirmed at the time, indicating it was still at the earlier stages of development. Since then, Bethesda has remasteredThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionand launched an entirely new IP inStarfield. Despite this, there has been very little news onThe Elder Scrolls 6beyond occasional confirmations that it’s still in development, but no trailers since 2018.
In an episode of the Xbox Two podcast, insider and journalist Jez Corden spoke of the possibility ofThe Elder Scrolls 6appearing at theupcoming Xbox Games Showcaseon June 8, hinting that it isn’t totally out of the question, stating, “Elder Scrolls 6is kind of a ‘pie in the sky’ kind of thing but you never know man, you never know… The reason I wanted to predict that [Elder Scrolls 6appearing] is because I’ve started hearing rumors about the game. Which suggests to me that more people at Microsoft are privy to it, you know. Which suggested to me that maybe there’s a trailer going around internally.”
The Elder Scrolls 6 Could Appear at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8
Corden does point out that “it’s not exactly unheard of for Microsoft to demonstrate games internally but not show them to the public.” So, while it’s not out of the question thatThe Elder Scrolls 6will appear, it can’t be called likely by any stretch of the imagination. Still, consideringThe Elder Scrolls 6is one of theRPGs gamers are most excited forat the moment, this news could stir some excitement among fans.
WheneverThe Elder Scrolls 6does release, it’s sure to be an enormous hit. Therecent success ofOblivion Remasteredhas shown that theElder Scrollsbrand is stronger than ever, despite having no mainline release in almost 14 years. For now, fans will have to exercise even more patience until Bethesda is ready to reveal the game, which hopefully will come sooner rather than later.
