Elden Ring Nightreignis, first and foremost, a co-op roguelike game designed for three players. The vast majority of its enemy encounters, progression systems, classes, and world design have all been crafted with this specific team size in mind. That said,Elden Ring Nightreigndoes technically offer a solo mode.

While a high-level of challenge is something expected of aFromSoftware action-RPG,Elden Ring Nightreign’s solo mode takes things to an unprecedented level. Challenging boss fights that were initially made for three fully-equipped, fully-leveled players become virtually impossible for just one player to conquer, even if the RNG gods are on their side and have granted them the best weapons and upgrades possible. But even with that in mind, there are undoubtedly a handful ofNightreignplayers out there willing to brute-force their way through its solo mode, and this list of unwritten rules could help.

The Unwritten Rules of Elden Ring Nightreign’s Solo Mode Explained

Planning a Route is Necessary

Time is never on the player’s side inElden Ring Nightreign, but that’s especially true in solo play. Every enemy encounter and every boss fight takes much longer to conquer solo than it does with two allies, and inNightreign, every second counts. To try and keep ahead ofthe Night’s Tide, players will need to plan a route when they first appear in the match, and stick to it as strictly as they can.

Focus on Defeating Manageable Bosses

Following on from the previous unwritten rule, solo players inElden Ring Nightreignshould only face off against bosses they know they can take down in a reasonable amount of time. For example, larger field bosses likeNightreign’s Ancient Dragonaren’t going to be worth the effort or time to defeat, especially as one wrong move can mean death and the loss of a level. One-on-one fights, such as the Tree Sentinel, are much better suited to solo play.

Choose the Right Nightfarer

InElden Ring Nightreign’s multiplayer, every Nightfarer is a worthwhile choice, with each one bringing something unique and useful to the table. That’s not quite the case inNightreign’s solo mode. Though skilled players can make any character class work, there are certain Nightfarers that are simply more equipped to deal with the precarious nature ofNightreign’s solo mode. Wylder, for instance, has a great arsenal of abilities, high HP, and a passive skill that lets him revive on the spot during battle. Getting anywhere in solo will rely heavily on the player’s choice of Nightfarer.

Pay Close Attention to Upgrades

A vital part ofElden Ring Nightreign’s moment-to-moment gameplay is choosing the right upgrades. Defeating a boss will usually yield 2-3 potential rewards, and the player needs to determine which one would be the best fit for their desired playstyle and build. In solo play, this decision is even more impactful, as players can’t rely on their allies' loadout to help them during battle. Solo players should also keep in mind theNight Lord’s specific weakness, such as fire or poison damage, as they’ll need to exploit that weakness heavily if they have any hope of beating the run.
