Despite being over two years old,Star Wars Jedi: Survivorstill remains one of the most popular and critically acclaimedStar Warsgames made since Disney acquired control over the franchise. The follow-up to 2019’sStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,Star Wars Jedi: Survivorfollows Jedi Knight Cal Kestis and the crew of the Mantis as they struggle to locate a safe refuge from the Galactic Empire. While the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X versions ofSurvivorhave been out for two years, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game have only been out for less than a year. Given that new players may still be delving into Kestis’ sequel story for the first time, here are a few actions players should avoid taking inStar Wars Jedi: Survivor.
The Biggest Mistakes Players Can Make in Jedi: Survivor
Never Returning to Coruscant
The prologue ofSurvivoris famous for quickly establishing the threats Kestis continues to face in the five years sinceFallen Order’s events as well as shedding light on an Imperial Coruscant. However, after Kestis lands on Koboh and begins his quest to reach Tanalorr,Survivor’s narrative never brings the Jedi back to the capital of the Empire. For some players, they may have finishedSurvivor’s story without ever going back to Coruscant, but this would be a mistake as there are many collectibles and activities to collect on the city planet. These activities include a Force Tear featuring a fight against two Rancors, a fight againstan encaged Frenzied Jotaz, a fight against the legendary DT-series sentry droid D-L1T, and more. Defeating D-L1T will additionally allow BD-1 to hack damaged DT-series droids.
Coruscant’s Frenzied Jotaz is the only Jotaz encountered inStar Wars Jedi: Survivorafter appearing numerous times on Zeffo inStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Underestimating Battle Droids and the Bedlam Raiders
One of the most common factions encountered inSurvivoris the Bedlam Raiders. At first glance, this faction may seem to be of no consequence compared to the Empire as they primarily use abandoned Clone Wars technology such as Republic ships and Separatist Battle Droids. However, the Bedlam Raiders are far more dangerous than their common comedic B1 droids suggest. BX Commando Droids can be agile swordsmen, IG-100 MagnaGuards continue the threatening legacy of Separatist bodyguards, and Droidekas can easily block progression with their shields and repeating blaster cannons. On top of reprogrammed droids, Bedlam Raider lieutenants can often be encountered wielding ancient lightsabers and grappling hooks gifted by their Gen’Dai leader Rayvis. Even B1 droids can set up volatile traps with creatures such asthe Spawn of Oggdo.
Missing Out on Skoova Stev, Bhima Ook, and Tulli Mu
Star Wars Jedi: Survivorfeatures multiple vast open worlds in the form of Coruscant, Jedha, Koboh, Koboh’s Shattered Moon, Nova Garon, and Tanalorr. Here, players can encounter a variety of alien wildlife and inhabitants, with many being only encountered through side activities away from the main quests. WhileSurvivor’s main story can still be completed without meeting these individuals, never meeting these characters would result in players missing out on fun minigames, lore, and engaging storytelling. Two of these characters areBhima Ook and Tulli Mu, who can be found in Koboh’s Boiling Bluff. Once initially encountered, Kestis will invite them to set up their Holotactics game business in Pyloon’s Saloon, where the Jedi can later play battle simulations against various characters using scans of enemies throughout the game.
One of the most popular and enthralling side characters ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivoris the small master fisherman Skoova Stev. Throughout Kestis’ journey on Koboh, the Jedi can often encounter Stev in his diving suit aboard his ship near various bodies of water. Stev will tell swashbuckling tales of his past as a young fisherman on his homeworld of Sakavi Tar, adventures with Captain Wan’yek Whett, and encounters with Purrgil. After telling a piece of his past, Stev will capture a rare type of fish and deliver it to an aquarium in the center of Pyloon’s Saloon. WhileSkoova Stev’s tales and fishdon’t contribute toSurvivor’s main narrative, the fisherman contributes much to the game’s worldbuilding and proves that any being can be the subject of interesting epics, no matter their shape or size.
