Summary
Nightreignis an intense game when it comes to knowing what to do and when, especially for players who don’t have much experience. It’s one thing to go in witha nice set of relicsand an okay understanding of the gameplay loop, but without a clear plan for the more difficult stages, it can be hard to progress into the third night.
While the first day is incredibly important for setting the players up for the battle to come, day two is arguably the most critical stage in the game, where players should be a high enough level to tackle most threats on the map, it just comes down to how much they can clear and whether they can do so before the rain devours the map.
8Stock Up On Consumables
Never Too Many Greases
One of the most important things thatmany players overlookwhen going into the later stages of a run is the usefulness of consumables. Early on, firebombs can be a great way of dealing large chunks of damage to bosses, or taking out groups of enemies all at once, but beyond just explosive power, there are still plenty of useful items that players should stock up on before heading into the final few fights.
Greases to target the Nightlord’s weakness, defensive buffs that heal or reduce damage, or starlight shards for the spellcasters who need a little extra FP for the longer battles, every consumable has a use and a purpose. While there is a merchant in the final area on day three, it is always nice to be able to spend most of the runes on levels first, so it’s a good idea to hunt the world on day two in order to avoid paying the hefty premium.
So Much Loot And So Many Bosses
The castle at the center of the map is one of the only structures that remains virtually unchanged between runs. There will be some different enemies defending it and changes to the loot pool, but no matter what, there will always be several bosses or elite foes to take on, each granting dormant powers which can be incredibly useful in getting those final few buffs.
It is possible to take on the chunks of the castle on day one, but for maximum efficiency, it is always a good idea to gear up a good amount first, then take everything in one go. It also helps that, due to the location, the castle will almost always be in the second circle of rain, allowing players to clean up the outer edges first before venturing in safely for the rewards that await.
6Take On The Earth Event
Legendary Weapons And Upgrades Galore
Once players have fought through several expeditions and taken down the Nightlords at the end, the map itself can begin to shift and change in new and interesting ways. A scarlet rot forest, a giant castle, or a volcanic chasm, each change is large-scale and within the areas, there are plenty of insane rewards and fearsome foes to take on.
Due to the difficulty of the bosses and the level of rewards for clearing them, it is always a good idea to leave these locations until the party is ready and prepared on day two. Managing to reach the end will net huge bonuses thatwill benefit any player, so they are well worth taking on, assuming the group can make it out alive.
5Max Out A Good Weapon
Use Those Smithing Stones Wisely
Smithing stones are back, and they function in a very similar way toElden Ring. The only difference is that inNightreign, there are only two variants needed to upgrade armaments to the max, unless they visit the forge. It is possible to get that purple-tier weapon as early as level 1 if players decide to visit the mines and take out the boss waiting inside, but using it so early isn’t always the best idea, even if there are several on the map.
One good strategy is jumping into the mines early on and saving the second smithing stone for another weapon later on. That way, players have more choice over which weapon they want to carry into the final fight, and even if they decide to upgrade their starting one early on, there are still plenty of locations to access the stones for additional upgrades down the line.
4Get More Flasks
It Never Hurts To Visit A Church
Increasing the number of flasks that players have inNightreignis incredibly important, as more flasks mean more hits that can be sustained when mistakes happen. There are no limits in terms ofcharacters or playerswhen it comes to how many flasks they can have, as the only limitation is how many churches they can hit in a single run.
Early, players might pick up a few churches along the way, but one of the best strategies once the night one boss dies and the reward is claimed, is to head straight out into the storm for the nearest church, in order to maximize time whilst still gaining an extra charge. As most of the outer areas will be cleared by the second day, grabbing those final churches is a quick way of becoming stronger and lets players push on faster.
3Fight Field Bosses
Challenging Foes That Reap Bountiful Rewards
On the dawn of the second day, players will be prompted as well as given map icons regarding the field bosses located across the lands. These bosses are no joke, and even if players have fought 100 Erdtree Avatars before, the health pools and damage numbers are pretty high and require a decent level on top of the skill to take down.
The icons can be a very useful way of guiding players on their day two route, as if the goal is to hit the castle, then taking down a nearby field boss on the way can be a nice injection of runes to boost the group’s potential success at taking on the foes inside. Some will be easier than others, and if players are feeling confident, they can even be taken down solo with the right set of weapons and item combinations.
2Hunt Scarabs
Get As Many Passives As Possible
Talismans are a slightly more obscure part of the game that are only found in a few locations. Merchants do sell them for a premium, but the best way of accessing them is by killing the scarabs that are scattered across the world. The locations for the beetles are pretty much always the same, with a few of them staying basically stationary while others roam a set path or route.
What this means is that if players are really looking topush their build over the edge, they can run to a set location or use the map found in a fort to grab some nice extra passives that can be hugely beneficial regardless of the class or level. A good strategy is to grab them when the zone moves, particularly to the final circle when time isn’t as pressing, in order to get as many extra rewards in those final moments.
1Fill All Weapon Slots
Every Passive Matters
Perhaps the most important mechanic that is not only quite hidden but immensely powerful, is the weapon passives that work regardless of whether the weapon is held or not. Some effects do require the weapon to be equipped, marked by a different hand icon, but the rest can simply be put in the player’s pocket and benefited from throughout a run.
Throughout day one, players should have picked up quite a few different weapons to fill out the slots, but day two is where they can really tailor the passives to exactly what they want and fill up their inventory with as many extra bonuses as possible. It is a crucial feature that can never be overlooked and can turn useless weapons that would otherwise be left behind into excellent utility pieces that are invaluable later on.
