Summary
When a person signs up to become a protector of society in the world ofMy Hero Academia, they need to prove that they are capable of holding their own against a villain or two, but in time, they may find themselves forming a duo with other like-minded heroes. Over the course of the series, there have been several hero duos who have come together to work on a plethora of cases, and while they definitely stand out for their combined strength, many of these partnerships also shine because of their banter and overall likability.
While everyone may therefore have their favorite individual heroes fromMy Hero Academia, there have also been plenty of tag teams who deserve a lot of credit, too. With all that being said, it’s time to reflect on the most fun and enjoyable to watch hero duos that have been seen throughoutMy Hero Academia’s long-running story.
8All Might & Gran Torino
Even In Their Older Years, All Might And His Mentor Can Still Dish Out Tons Of Damage
Though All Might and his old mentor Gan Torino may no longer be at their peaks in the main series, the dynamic duo is still more than capable of taking down even the strongest of villains with their combined strength. While All Might is far stronger than Gran Torino due to hisOne For All Quirk, Torino makes up for this by possessing an insane level of speed, being able to move faster than the human eye can keep up with.
The two, unfortunately, don’t get much time together in the main series, but when they do, it’s always a great time. Their most iconic moment is when they both bravely face off against All For One, with Torino putting his body on the line to protect his former student, resulting in an intense battle.
7Aizawa & Present Mic
Childhood Friends Who Always Have Each Other’s Backs
Aizawa and Present Mic couldn’t be any more different in their personalities, but that’s what makes them so much fun to watch. Mic’s endless energy and enthusiasm are complemented by the always lazy Aizawa, who can usually be found napping on the job or taking a break from his hero duties.
Despite seeming like apretty comical duoon the surface, these two have actually been through a lot together, including witnessing the loss of their close friend Oboro, only to re-discover him as Kurogiri many years later. Mic and Aizawa are two peas in a pod, always together, and always looking out for one another when the going gets tough.
6Tokoyami & Hawks
Two Oddball Quirk Users Who Come To Greatly Respect One Another
Not long after Hawks is introduced to the series, Tokoyami, the powerful but moody student ofClass 1-A, is taken under his wing. Considering Hawks is extremely young, despite reaching the number 2 hero spot, it was easy for him to connect with Tokoyami, with Hawks teaching him how to better control his immensely powerful Quirk, thanks to a little training.
During the final war, Tokoyami rushed to Hawks side when he was being attacked by All For One, leading to some of the most emotional moments in the arc. The two heroes formed a very unlikely bond, but it was a joy to watch any time they both appeared on-screen together.
5All Might & Nighteye
All Might’s Number One Fan Also Happens To Have Been A Former Sidekick
The flashbacks featuring Nighteye and All Might are some of the most fascinating in the series, as they give fans a glimpse into the two old partners back in their heyday. While All Might was leaping across Japan, solving cases everywhere he went, Nighteye was handling all the paperwork, ensuring All Might wasn’t getting into any legal trouble or annoying the media too much.
Because Nighteye is also able toview the future, it also made him an incredibly useful asset to All Might on the battlefield, though it would also result in the two having disputes every now and again if the sidekick saw his mentor meeting an unforeseen grizzly death. Midoriya might seem like the biggest All Might fanatic, but Nighteye was even able to work alongside the man himself, being the original number one fan.
4Midoriya & Mirio
One For All’s Successors Team Up To Take Down Overhaul
Midoriya and Mirio have a rather strange relationship. Though Midoriya would be the one who ended up inheriting One For All, it was actually Mirio who was intended to receive the Quirk originally. As a result, it always felt like there was a little bit of tension between these two, at least there was, until they embarked on a mission to save Eri together.
One For All’s successors came together to push Overhaul to his limit, with Mirio being the one to confront the villain first, losing his own Quirk in the process. While this was undoubtedly their shining moment together, they would also team up very briefly in the final war after Midoriya had reached his full power. Mirio’s goofy personality helps Midoriya to loosen up every now and again, bringing out the comical side of him that’s rare to see in the final few arcs of the story. Additionally, it’s also just stunning to see two of the strongest characters in the series fighting alongside one another whenever a powerful villain enters the fray.
3Endeavor & Hawks
Pro Heroes Who Begrudingly Team Up To Take Down Anyone Who Threatens Society
Endeavor may have a lot more experience and strength than Hawks, but the number two Pro Hero has him beat when it comes to overall speed. Hawks' Fierce Wings Quirk allows him to move at a blistering pace, making him an unlikely but strong asset when teamed up with Endeavor. The two managed to fend off one of the strongest Nomus in the entire series,Hood, who proves to be a real thorn in the side for both of them. Despite that, though, they were able to showcase their abilities in this fight, working closely alongside one another to complement their Quirks in order to destroy the villain in front of them.
Hawks and Endeavor also feel like very close partners on a more emotional level, primarily because Hawks looked up to Endeavor when he was still young. Due to his rough upbringing, Hawks always admired Endeavor, which is why he’s always so passionate about saving him in times of crisis. To put it simply, if there was anybody who would have a chance of putting a smile on Endeavor’s face other than his sons, it would be Hawks.
2Fat Gum & Red Riot
Fat Gum And Red Riot Combine Their Powers To Save A Defenseless Eri
The raid on Overhaul’s base was an intense situation for everyone involved, but two heroes who managed to come out as shining examples of what heroism truly is were Fat Gum and Red Riot. This unlikely duo managed to hold off two of Overhaul’s goons in order to allow the other heroes to reach Eri. Considering both of them have some of the best defensive Quirks in the series, they were able to suppress their opponents for the mission to go smoothly.
These characters had gottenbarely any screentimebefore this arc, but it’s fair to say they certainly made a name for themselves in this hectic and high-stakes portion of the story. They’re also one of those pairs who are just as much fun to watch outside of battle, too, thanks to their expressive personalities, which makes it hard not to love them.
1Midoriya & Bakugo
Longtime Rivals Who Learn They Can Achieve Incredible Things When Working Together
Though Bakugo is not initially all that fond of Midoriya as a person, he is still forced to team up with hisarch-rivalon numerous occasions throughout the series. That being said, they also fight a lot, with Bakugo coming out the winner in their first serious duel early on in the story.
However, the two boys quickly realized that when they put their powers together, they could achieve some incredible feats. While this showed itself when they came very close to overcoming All Might, it is especially apparent during the final war when they take on Shigaraki and All For One. One of the best parts ofMy Hero Academiahas been witnessing the steady growth of Midoriya and Bakugo’s relationship, so any time they team up, it’s a real treat for long-time fans.
