Splitgate 2is not just a reskin of the original game. Although the core innovation of the portals remains unchanged, the game now hosts a new class system that changes the gameplay significantly, granting players some abilities that make the experience more tactical than before.
Each class inSplitgate 2benefits from one passive and one active skill, and in most of the game modes, it’s just best to have at least one player from each class, especially in the Battle Royale mode. But, there is no doubt that Aeros might be more interesting for players who prefer speed to anything else.
Aeros Skills
Aeros is simply a representative of the light class inSplitgate 2. The passive skill for Aeros, Taskmaster, allows the player to use their active ability faster by reducing the cooldown timer. This buff is also applied to all teammates.
When it comes to the active skill, Aeros offers Rush, activating which allows the player to sprint at a higher speed. This is quite beneficial in both Arena and Battle Royale modes to surprise the opponents or flee from combat.
InBattle Royale, teammates can only respawn if there is at least one player alive on the battlefield. Rush proves its value when the last standing player is an Aeros, and they can use the ability to flee from an outnumbered fight and avoid a wipe. Using Rush also speeds up sliding, which is another plus for the ability.
Shooting while Rush is active will slow down players, but applying armor pieces in the Battle Royale mode will not have a similar effect. The cooldown for Rush is 40 seconds, and the ability remains active for 10 seconds.
Best Aeros Build For Arena
Arena is where the core community ofSplitegate 2will spend the most time, so having the best build here is going to be even more important. An Aeros player is probably someone who likes to move quickly around the map, get kills, and disappear.
Starting with the weapon, Shotgun (Blitz) is the best primary gun to choose for Arena, especially in game modes like Capture The Flag or Plant And Defuse, where opponents will have to stand stationary and getting close to them is quite possible for an Aeros, thanks to its Rush ability. Use Shotgun with Barrel Extension and Melee Knuckles attachments. The former slightly extends the effective range of the weapon, and the latter reduces the cooldown between melee attacks, which is utterly important while playing shotgun.
What is important when playing shotgun is the ability to switch weapons quickly, and that’s when Quick Draw comes into play. This is a must-have perk for anyone playing shotgun, as it reduces the time to switch to your secondary weapon.
For the next perk slot, you can choose between Hustle or Quick Ability. The former slightly increases the sprint speed of the player, which is good for Aeros, and the second one reduces the cooldown for Rush by 5 seconds. Overall, Hustle is the better choice as you can benefit from it all the time.
Speaking of equipment, Shock Disk is a perfect match for shotgun players. Just throw it at people before reaching them, and then draw a shotgun to score kills. Shock Disk explodes on impact and stuns enemies for a very brief duration. The next best option is Porta-Portal, which allows you to spawn a temporary portal anywhere and teleport quickly.
Last but not least, go with a Semi-Auto Pistol (Blink) for the secondary slot. Since you will be on the move to get up close with the enemies, the Heavy Pistol will not help that much. Burst Pistol is also not a good option forclose-range combat, as it doesn’t allow you to correct your aim instantly after you shoot. So, the bullets are not always ready to go out. That’s why the Semi-Auto Pistol remains the top pick here. For the weapon’s attachment, Laser Sight is the best option, as the map is small enough not to need a range extender.
Best Aeros Build For Battle Royale
Before talking about the Battle Royale build, keep in mind that the build you choose here will not be fully granted when you dive onto the map at the beginning. You will only get your pistol of choice as well as the perks from the build when a Battle Royale match begins. The rest of the items, including the primary weapon and equipment, will only be available through a loadout drop.
When it comes to Battle Royale, maneuverability is key to success for Aeros players. Unlike Arena, the map in Battle Royale is big, and it’s full of open spaces. Portals still remain the smartest way to transition around the map, but you are not supposed to be next to a portal all the time, which is why sprinting fast and sliding become crucial.
For that purpose, Slide is a strongly recommended perk to equip when playing as Aeros in Battle Royale. What it does is simply increase the distance that the player can slide. After portals and jump pads, sliding is the fastest way of traversal inSplitgate 2. Wherever there is just a little slope, you can switch to sliding, and it will get you to your destination a lot faster. The snowy terrain helps even more with sliding speed.
Moreover, sliding is also the best way to hide from opponents while moving, as lying down on the ground makes you a harder target to hit, especially when escaping from a fight. Long-distance sliding will help a lot with these situations, and it can save the entire team.
After sliding, there is more flexibility for choosing the next perk. If you want to maximize maneuverability, using either Speedy Slayer or Killer Cooldown could be a wise option. The former gives the player a brief speed boost every time they score a kill. This one can help significantly with finding a cover to take a break from combat and recover your health, or apply some armor pieces.
Killer Cooldown, on the other hand, reduces the cooldown for the ability every time you score a kill. This is way more situational than Speedy Slayer, as you only benefit from Killer Cooldown if your ability is already on cooldown. If you have it available, this perk will do nothing for you. So, Speedy Slayer is a better option here.
For those who prefer longer combat survivability, Fast Hands might be the better choice. The perk raises the reload speed for all weapons, allowing Aeros to come back to the gunfight faster and chase down enemies.
Speaking of the weapons, it really depends on your playstyle, but earlier in the game, when the map is big, long-range weapons are more valuable, as they allow you to stay far away from the enemies and still effectively deal damage. So, Burst Rifle is the priority choice, but if you prefer single-shot weapons, then Carbine (Cadence) will suit you better. For weapon attachments, use Barrel Extension and Magazine for Carbine. Replace Barrel Extension with Grip for Burst Rifle.
Having an Assault Rifle or SMG in the second slot is also quite helpful with mid-range and close-range gunfights, but that’s something you should be looking for in theloot chests. It’s only very late in the game that players have to deal with enemies at close range, and by then, you have probably looted a good close-range weapon.
Last but not least, don’t forget to put Porta-Portal in the equipment slot, as it is the best thing to vanish from combat. What this tool does is to open a floating portal in front of the player. So, if you already have one portal anywhere on the map, the second one is on your equipment and can be spawned at any moment to let you teleport.
