Radiation is one of the major threats inThe Alters, and it only gets worse the further you get into the game. There are many different things that can cause it, and if you get exposed, you’ll feel the effects pretty quickly. What Causes Radiation in The Alters
The game doesn’t really explain what’s causing the radiation. Players will just get a warning and be told tohead back to their bases. But after playing a bit, it becomes clear that a few things can cause it:
How to Prevent Radiation?
Protect Your Base With Radiation Filter
Players will learn the basics of crafting pretty early in their The Alters journey. After that, you can start crafting the filters for the Radiation Barrier. One filter requires10 Metals and 20 Organics, and it will protect your base for one day. After that, players will have to replace it with a new one. However, during Magnetic Storms, these filters wear out faster. It will take you around two hours to craft one.
Use Infirmary
Hiding in your base can work for a while, but your time on the planet is limited, so it’s not a long-term fix. Players who really want to deal with radiation properly will need the Infirmary. Sleeping in a bed there helps cure radiation over time.
However, the Infirmary isn’t available right away, so you’ll have to build it yourself. It costs20 Metals and 60 Minerals, and it can holdup to two Altersat once.
