Summary

Bandai Namco has released a new update, Version 2.02, for the fighting gameTekken 8, and several balancing adjustments are being delivered within a new policy.Tekken 8first hit shelves in January 2024, and the entry was the first of its kind to debut on home consoles instead of arcades. Shared on social media with theTekken 8community, Bandai Namco postedVersion 2.02’s patch notes, which included several balancing adjustments. Within the new shared policy, changes included an adjustment to Heat Time consumption for certain moves, particularly focusing on “high guard-crush potential moves,” and a tracking adjustment for Heat Smash. The team noted that, following Version 2.01’s update, the devs are continuing to address “moves with excessively high return relative to risk” and “high-performance moves that can repeatedly create advantageous situations, leading to one-sided gameplay.” Following a problematic Season 2 launch,Tekken 8restored its original balancing teamwith Kohei Ikeda at the helm, and the devs have continued to make notable changes in updates since.

The update also highlighted new additions to the Tekken Shop, the new Action Feedback feature in Ghost vs Ghost, Rank Point adjustments in Ranked Match, and much more, but some fans weren’t entirely satisfied with the update. While there’s a host oftips to play as Clive Rosfield inTekken 8, some players still find theFinal Fantasy 16protagonist wildly unbalanced. Replying on social media, a few fans pointed out the “significant nerf” to the Heat Smash tracking performance in many characters, but noted Clive was unaffected because he uses magic and summons.

Looking ahead to the fighter’s content roadmap,Tekken 8revealed the next DLC characterrecently, as well as highlighting what changes would be arriving in a future update. Three updates were planned for deployment in Season 2, including the May version and the current balancing update for June, leaving the third patch, Version 2.03, on the calendar for a Summer release. This update will include a new fighter plus tonnes ofPac-Mancontent, and the game’s major balance adjustments are expected to end with this third and final version.
