Summary

As the days, weeks, and months roll past without a concrete release date yet for the highly anticipatedStranger Thingsseason 5, a recent rumor suggested that the supernatural/horror series could drop in three parts, but apparently, that plan has now been reportedly scrapped by the streaming network Netflix.

Some of the facts that fans currently know aboutStranger Things' fifth season are that it will consist of eight episodes and is set in the autumn of 1987, around six months after Season 4, and that the main cast will be returning for its emotional final season, including Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers. Of course, the series wouldn’t be the same without Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers and David Harbour as Jim Hopper. Additionally, Linda Hamilton, known for her role as Sarah Connor in theTerminatorfranchise, joins theStranger Thingscast as a new, mysterious character. Asfans do their best to come up with when they believe the last season will be released, it is reported that the release strategy has undergone changes.

Stranger Things Season 5 Release Date Still up in the Air as Netflix Reportedly Bins Three-Volume Split

As reported byWhat’s On Netflix, the release strategy forStranger Things’final season is expected to go ahead with a two-volume split, despite previous rumors that season 5 would include a three-volume release. Season 5 is now reported to be scheduled for October and November this year.Although this seems to be at least something more concrete for viewers who are patiently waiting to watch the last season of the series, many fans aren’t happy about its release being pushed even further back if this latest update is indeed true, as well asStranger Things’official social media channels remaining quiet about what is actually happening.

As yet, Netflix hasn’t made an official statement confirming whetherStranger Thingsseason 5 will be either in two parts or three, so currently, this news is taken with a pinch of salt, but fans will hopefully know clearer details on 31 May at Netflix’s annual Tudum event when it goes live, which is set to reveal updates on titles includingEmily in Paris,Squid GameSeason 3, and, hopefully, the officialrelease date(s) forStranger ThingsSeason 5.

Stranger Things' directorShawn Levy will be making quite a big change this time around when it comes to season 5’s episode format. Previously, Levy has directed episodes 3 and 4 of every season ofStranger Things, but now, screenwriter Frank Darabont will take the director’s chair for episode 3, with episode 4, titled “Sorcerer,” directed by the Duffer Brothers. For now, fans will have to hold on a little longer forStranger Thingsseason 5’s release schedule, but hopefully that will be rectified in the coming days.
