On Reddit,Stardew Valleyfan AlmaAmbitious shared a brief gameplay video, where they say that they’ve never done a quicker 180-degree turn. The video seems completely normal at first as they casually jog across their farm, but it quickly takes a turn when they enter a farmhouse. The room is completely dark, other than the illumination from the player themselves, and a mannequin set near the center of the room can be seen. However, thisStardew Valleycursed mannequinis violently shaking. One can see the moment the player recognizes the mannequin and immediately reverses course, running back out of the building.

Mannequins Can Be Creepy in Stardew Valley

Mannequins, dolls, and similar human-like figures can be creepy in a lot of games, likethe mannequins inResident Evil 7that turn around and watch the player when out of view. This also includesStardew Valley, which has cursed mannequins of its own. AlmaAmbitious notes that they already knew that cursed mannequins sometimes swap clothing with the player while they’re asleep, which can be quite alarming, but they had no idea that mannequins sometimes violently shake like this. Fellow players have shared their own stories of getting spooked by mannequins in their homes, and are amused at the “nope moment” that AlmaAmbitious had when seeing this one moving.

For the uninformed,Stardew Valleyactually has two varieties of mannequins, and one of them is completely harmless. Purchased mannequins won’t move or do anything, but cursed mannequins can drop from Haunted Skulls when defeated. They work the same way as standard mannequins, letting players put clothing on them, but they can also act out on their own, moving around, changing their clothes, altering the home’s wallpaper and flooring, or even jumpscaring the player. While AlmaAmbitious’s moment was frightening to suddenly be surprised by, it’s arguably not even the worst behavior a cursed mannequin can exhibit, with them sometimes gaining eyes that dart around to look at their surroundings. Those who find themselves with a cursed mannequin can make them normal and non-cursed by leaving them atPierre’s General Storeovernight.
