GSC Game World, the developer behind the popularSTALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylsequel, has teased some new goodies coming to the shooter via update 1.5.STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylwas first launched in 2024 and serves as the fourth main game in theSTALKERseries, and the first entry in 15 years after 2009’sCall of Pripyat.
STALKER 2deployed a major update for May 2025recently, which included fixes to mutants and improved AI combat. Patch 1.4 also delivered a wave of balance changes, alterations to main, side quest, and open world encounters, and technical updates. It’s common knowledge thatSTALKER 2had a challenging road to completion, with the team having been affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine following the game’s initial delay from its original 2012 release date.
During a recent GSC Q&A onDiscordviaVideoGamer, the devs confirmed that update 1.5 would be bringing two new weapons to the game, joiningSTALKER 2’s best weapons list, which already includes the Drowned and Kharod rifles, and the Ram-2 shotgun. Unfortunately, the team remained tight-lipped on which two weapons would be added to the arsenal, but teased the types of weapons that players can expect, specifically mentioning a new “early game rifle” and a “pistol.” In addition to this confirmation, the developer also teased that the update would deliver “some other much-awaited features.”
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Devs Tease Two New Weapons Coming in Update 1.5
Alongside the developer’s update 1.5 tease, the shooter’s player base is well aware a Modkit for the game is already in development, followingGSC’s promise of “more accessible” mod content inSTALKER 2. Following May’s recent update, and to keep in line with the game’s Q2 roadmap, the developer didn’t have an exact update 1.5 release date to share with the community, but the team noted they were “aiming for next month.” Players also have the game’s expansions to look forward to, which will bring “fresh new perspectives” to gameplay, and the highly anticipated multiplayer co-op mode that’s yet to receive a release date as well.
Update 1.5 is part ofSTALKER 2’s Q2 2025 content roadmap, which was revealed back in April. The dev team has already delivered on several features promised in the list, including critical A-Life fixes, new controller abilities and squirrels, and ongoing stabilization and visual improvements. After the “two new weapons” delivery, the final item on the checklist is further stabilization, optimization, and Anomalies fixing, as well as theSTALKERoriginal trilogy next-gen update.
