Spoilers Ahead for the side quest “Spread Your Wings” inTainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. Proceed with caution.

How to Find Vidar in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

As mentioned earlier, the first step is to find and rescue Vidar from a bandit camp. This bandit camp doesn’t appear on the map, so it’s easy to miss unless you stumble across it naturally. It’s located just north of the Ruined Broch fast travel point, near a fork in the road. Once you’re there, eliminate the bandits and find Vidarlocked inside a cage. The key is sitting on a crate near the tent.

Once free, talk to Vidar and agree to meet him in Roscree. This will trigger the “Spread Your Wings” quest and mark Roscree on your map.

Should You Save Vidar in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon?

When you arrive in Roscree, you’ll find Vidar already waiting in the middle of the village. Go up to him to initiate a conversation. You’ll be interrupted soon after by a group of people called the Children of Morrigan.

It becomes clear that Vidar and the Children of Morrigan have a complicated history, and you’ll learn some of it in the conversation that follows. Self, the leader of the group, will ask Vidar to cooperate and go with them peacefully, but naturally, Vidar doesn’t want to go.

At one point, Self will turn to you and reveal some of the things that Vidar did to warrant his capture. Keep the conversation going instead of choosing to side with Vidar. Eventually, you’ll end up with two options:

Choosing to Save Vidar

If you choose the option, “I don’t believe the stories you’re telling. I’m with Vidar”, you’re actively turning against the Children of Morrigan. The guild will turn hostile and start attacking you. You’ll have to defeat them all with the help of Vidar.

Once they are down, talk with Vidar to start a chain of quests that involve hunting down members and potential recruits of the Children of Morrigan. This quest will eventually take you to Cuachant and will end with its own set of unique rewards.

Choosing to Turn Vidar In

If you decide to let the Children of Morrigan take Vidar by choosing, “If he won’t be killed… All right. I’d like to know more.”, you’ll be in the good graces of the guild. You’ll join the guild as a Hatchling and will slowly work your way through the ranks. This starts a separate chain of quests that will also take you to Cuachant and will reward you with unique items.

You can also choose not to help Vidal or work for Children of Morrigan after this segment. In that case, you won’t get any additional quests.

Should You Save Vidar or Hand Him Over to the Children of Morrigan?

Both choices lead to completely different outcomes and questlines, and each has its own moral ambiguity. Saving Vidar may seem noble at first, but his willingness to go to any lengths, including turning on his own tribe, casts doubt on his true intentions.

The Children of Morrigan, on the other hand, seem a bit more transparent. They operate in a moral gray spot and try to keep Avalon in balance. While they work from the shadows, their main goal is to maintain order and safety.
