Combat and farming may make up the majority of the action inRune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, but players can still build friendships and romance characters as they progress through the game. The standard game has 14 different characters that players can romance, but withRune Factory: Guardians of Azuma’sSeasons of Love DLC, players can get access to more, as well as additional content for all the main side characters in the game. In this guide, I’ll explain what’s in the Seasons of Love DLC, and whether it’s worth buying.
What’s in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma’s Seasons of Love DLC?
Love Is in the Air
The main attraction in theSeasons of Love DLCis the addition of Cuilang and Pilika as romance options. The DLC adds romance scenarios for each of these characters, meaning players can choose to marry them if that’s what their heart desires.
Both Cuilang and Pilika are still characters you’ll meet in themain storyline ofRune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, regardless of whether you have the Seasons of Love DLC. The DLC only allows players to romance them.
Seasons of Love also includes the ‘Marvelous Swimsuit Bundle’, which adds a swimsuit costume for each protagonist and romance candidate into the game. These are purely cosmeticchanges to a character’s appearance, and won’t change how each character performs in combat. Changing the protagonist and party members' outfits is done via the wardrobe in the Dragon Shrine found in each village.
Is the Seasons of Love DLC for Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Worth It?
A Matter of the Heart
The Seasons of Love DLC costs $9.99 separately, or it comes as part of the physical Earth Dancer Limited Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Super Digital Deluxe Editions of the game. The limited edition costs $99.99, while the Digital Deluxe and Super Digital Deluxe Editions come in at $69.98 and $79.98 on Steam, respectively. The more expensive editions also come with additional content, as shown in the table below, to help with the purchasing decision.

With Seasons of Love primarily focused on adding two new romance options for players to pursue, whether the purchase is worth it depends on how interested they are in these romance options compared to the others available in the game. As noted above, both Cuilang and Pilika feature in the story ofRune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, so players won’t be missing out on these characters altogether if they don’t choose to buy it. However, if players are intent on seeing every romance scenario in the game, the DLC may be worth buying.
It also depends on whether players are interested in the swimsuit costumes for the protagonists and romanceable characters. During my playthrough, I kept my characters in their default appearance, but for those who do want to change up their characters' looks, Seasons of Love might have some extra appeal.
