Sonyhas been talking about the PlayStation 6, and while the promise of a brand-new console is intriguing, it feels as though the PS5 just got here. Despite that, though,Sonyhas stated in a recent interview that the PS6 is at the “top of its mind.”

Regardless of how one feels about the PS6 already being teased, there is one thing that seems just about certain. The PS6 is likely to have a healthy roster of superhero games.Sony has held a strong partnership with Marvelover the years, and while not every game adapted from the latter’s canon has been an exclusive, the former still has a solid PlayStation-only deal. As the wait for its current superhero projects continues, the PS6 is looking more and more like a hub for Marvel games.

Sony’s Upcoming Marvel Roster Could Thrive on the PlayStation 6

Sony-Exclusive Marvel Games Currently in Development or Early Stages

The recently announcedMarvel Tokon: Fighting Soulsis expected to arrive next year, so it will be ready long before the PS6, but it could still be a solid launch option when the new console eventually launches. However, when it comes toMarvel’s WolverineandMarvel’s Spider-Man 3, the two projects could be destined for the PS6, especially the latter.

Many Sony and Marvel fans have been eager to find out when Insomniac plans on revealing’s Wolverine. Right now, the developer has remained incredibly tight-lipped, especially after the company was hit by a massive data leak back in 2023. The leak pointed to a potential 2026 launch, but it’s highly possible that Insomniac may have pushed it back or that the information was simply incorrect.Marvel’s Spider-Man 3was also part of the leaks, claiming a possible 2028 launch window. Until Insomniac makes something official, any launch timeframe is purely speculation and rumor. Many are eager to see Sony’s Marvel roster grow, but according to a fresh report, Marvel may not be the only comic book brand under Sony’s wing.

Other non-exclusive Marvel games that are in development include EA Motive’sIron ManandMarvel’s Bladeby Arkane Studios.

Sony Could Be Buying Warner Bros. Discovery, and With it, More Superheroes

Following a June 9 announcement from Warner Bros. Discovery that it would be splitting into two separate entities, WBD Streaming & Studios and WBD Global Networks, SEScoops reported a week later that Sony was interested in buying the WBD Streaming and Studios division, which includes HBO Max, IPs and its gaming.

So far, both Sony and Warner Bros. Discovery have yet to address these claims, but if true, they could hold some serious implications forSony’s future gaming roster. After the rough launch and short-lived life of last year’sSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueand the now-canceled Wonder Woman game from Monolith, DC games have been in a rut. This is purely speculation, but between Warner Bros. Discovery’s company split and the less-than-fantastic state of DC games, Sony may see this as a major opportunity to expand its superhero ventures.

DC isn’t the only comic brand that has faced a recent game shut-down, though. EA’s Black Panther game was recently canceled, too.

The PS6 Could Bring Marvel and DC Under One Roof

If Sony does actually acquire WBD Streaming and Studios, it could be a huge moment for both Marvel and DC fans. Comic book lovers may need to keep an eye on Sony in the coming months, because if the company purchases this section of Warner Bros. Discovery, then heroes likeBatman and Supermancould quickly become PlayStation-exclusive names. Of course, only time will tell, but for now, the thought of the PS6 being a superhero haven is intriguing.
