Elden Ring Nightreignis a roguelite game set in the same world asElden Ring. It takes you into a map where enemies and bosses await you as you try to push the night back and defeat the Night Lords.
While there is a solo mode inNightreign, the majority of the game will be played with two teammates. And if your friends aren’t around or are playing something else, you will need to use the matchmaking feature to help you survive all the battles ahead.
Tips for Playing Elden Ring Nightreign With Strangers
For thosematchmaking with randoms instead of solo play inElden Ring Nightreign, you will need all the help you may get. Here is a collection of tips to help you get the most out of every match, whether you one random on your team or two.
Don’t Split Up the Group
As much as possible, you should stick to your teammates, and playing with randoms makes this even more important. Most ofNightreignseems to be tuned for playing with friends, so running off to adventure far away from your allies can lead to losing levels or even getting caught outside the circle. Not to mention that the respawn timer takes an insanely long time to run down if you are too far away for allies to save.
Follow the Leader
Almost every match you hop into will have that one person who has a plan, and they usually begin pinging the map immediately. It’s best not to attempt to go off on your own if you already have someone who has decided they are leading, so it’s better to just follow along to prevent the team from getting too far apart from one another.
The Ping System Is Your Friend
You have very limited ways of communicating with your random allies, making it incredibly important to use the one communication tool that it gives you: pinging the map. For example, pinging at your feet over and over again can signal your allies to come to you. If someone places amarker on theNightreignmap, agree to heading in that direction by doing it too.
Pinging an Evergaol will inform your allies that you have a Stonesword Key to use. If someone pings a location, but you want to make a stop along the way at aNightreignchurch locationor something, ping the location you want to swing by, then ping the other player’s original location to let them know you want to make a pit stop.
Don’t Take Unnecessary Risks
If you are playing with two friends and chatting over your headsets, you can let them know if you plan to make a risky move, such as visiting a location outside the circle. However, since you don’t have a way to do this with random players, you will want to maybe save the dicey moves for another game.
Consider Team Composition
While team makeup isn’t super important, you do want a variety of types of classes. For example, if both your teammates are ranged, you should consider being a tanky melee, like a goodNightreignWylder build. Shoring up weak spots in the team can help you stay alive much longer. This makes checking out what your teammates are playing before choosing your class extra important.
If the Boss Is on You…
Bosses tend to focus on one person at a time. While some bosses likeAugur or Maris Fathom of Nightdo have some AoE attacks, most will just attack one player over and over again until someone else pulls aggro or the target dies. If you become a boss' target, it’s incredibly important to do your best not to die. When you are in the crosshairs, don’t focus on damage done; dodge, block, and leave the killing to your allies instead.
Only Get (or Stay) in Fights You Can Win
If your randomized team of fellow players has decided they are going to dive headfirst into a meteor to take down a Fallingstar Beast at level two, and they are both immediately downed, you probably shouldn’t join them in the pit of death they stumbled into. Instead, it’s better to leave fights you may’t win and don’t go near places you won’t be able to handle yet.
Relics Can Help Everyone
There are several team-friendlyElden Ring Nightreignrelicsthat can give everyone a boost as you go into battle together. These relics can be so much more helpful if you are playing with people you don’t know and can’t chat with. Here are some great examples of group-friendly equips you can use.
Don’t Rely on Your Allies to Bring the Weakness
If you are heading in with some randos to take down Fissue in the Fog, you may’t rely on your allies to pick upNightreign’s many fire weaponsor use them correctly. This means you have to make sure to bring what is needed yourself.
