Summary
The world ofOne Pieceassembles the pirates into a very clear structure based on their power. Within this hierarchy, the greatest pirates are the Emperors of the Sea, or Yonko, who are the most influential of them all, with designated areas of the New World carved out as a part of their territories. Due to this, these pirates tend to be the most powerful in the world, with the obvious exception of Buggy.
However, many fans believe that, even within the hallowed ranks of these great pirates, the World’s Strongest Creature, Kaido, is truly in a league of his own. Although the narrative definitely builds him up as being among the strongest pirates inOne Piece’shistory, many believe that, due to his amazing feats in the Wano arc, he may even be the most powerful of them all, so let’s see if this is the case.

In a world filled with exceptionally powerful heroes and villains, to boast the title of the ‘World’s Strongest Creature’ definitely raises eyebrows, since powerhousessuch as Whitebeard, Shanks, and Big Momwould also fall under this banner. Regarding Kaido, it is said that if there is ever a one-on-one situation involving this character, always bet on him, since his strength and skill are sure to ensure victory.
There are two main reasons why his power is legendary, those being his legendary Devil Fruit and his mastery over all the Advanced forms of Haki. The Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu is a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit that was one of the treasures of God Valley, meaning it’s one of the most sought-after Devil Fruits in the world. On top of this, his mastery over it was incredible to witness as he was shown to use it without any real hindrance, all while he was fighting the forces of Wano at once. However, his mastery of Haki is the true showing of his legendary strength.
Look at Roger. He had no fruit power and still brought the world to heel! Because only Haki… can transcend all!
For his fans, this is one of the main reasons why they consider him a top-tier in theOne Pieceverse; his feats with his fruit and Haki are arguably the greatest in the franchise. Not only was he able to beat Luffy multiple times on his own, but he ran a gauntlet against all of his enemies, where he took on the full might of Wano, the Nine Red Scabbards, andmultiple members of the Worst Generation, all on his own. While none of them were close to his or Luffy’s strength, the feat was even more shocking because Kaido defeated many incredibly powerful foes one after another and still managed to defeat Luffy after it.
Many even take away from Luffy’s eventual victory over the villain, since they felt that, had Kaido not already been fighting for hours at that point, he may have performed way better against Gear 5. His endurance may just be the best in the series because of this, since he not only defeated the Scabbards before taking on Luffy, he sustained a very serious injury inflicted upon him by Zoro, which he likened to the power of Oden that scarred him permanently. Despite this, he managed to defeat Luffy once again.
Even after Luffy awoke his Gear 5 power, Kaido still fought against him for quite a while, for the most part, all while using his flame clouds to lift Onigashima the entire time. Here, despite Gear 5 dealing with him quite easily, Kaido still outlasted Luffy the first time he transformed, forcing the hero out of his Gear 5 state due to having superior endurance, which prompted Luffy to need to refuel by eating a lot of food to keep up.
The main reason why Kaido is so deadly, however, is due to his mastery of all the Advanced forms of Haki. Despite having one of the strongest Devil Fruits in the series, Kaido believed that Haki trumps all, so he trained it to its utmost limits so as to never be completely reliant on his Devil Fruit. In the fights against Luffy, Kaido’s Haki was far superior in each of their engagements, and he only lost in the end due to the reality-altering abilities of Gear 5, which many fans even believe was only the case due to Kaido having done so much before the battle.
Kaido vs. The Other Strongest Characters InOne Piece
How Does He Stand Next To The Greats?
At the beginning of their fight, Kaido saw Luffy in the same light asthe strongest characters in history, suggesting that he may be on the same level as them. However, when they fought, Kaido’s endurance, strength, and skill proved to be far superior to Luffy’s, which even ended in the protagonist’s death. However, once Luffy’s Devil Fruit went through an Awakening, leading to his Gear 5 form, his strength just went through the roof and was something that Kaido simply couldn’t contend with.
As for the others, the narrative builds Roger and Whitebeard as the series' most legendary and powerful characters, whose Haki is implied to be even greater than Kaido’s. Unfortunately, fans could never witness these two in their prime, although Kaido himself considers them to be incredibly powerful. However, Rocks was a character who Roger needed Garp’s help to defeat, so it can easily be surmised that he was far stronger than Kaido, and although Oden was able to one-shot Kaido all those years ago, many fans believe that Kaido wasn’t in his prime then, and the story would be different if they fought now.
