One PieceChapter 1149 raised more questions than it resolved. The first half of the chapter was entirely focused on Scopper Gaban as he beat Shepherd Sommers and headed to free the kids from the clutches of Gunko. Gaban was confident that he would overcome the Holy Knight and rescue his son, but Oda had other plans.
Due to Collun’s folly, Gunko learned that he was Gaban’s son. Subsequently, she took away Collun, forcing Gaban to surrender. After Gaban yielded, Gunko wastedno time in attacking him with several arrows.
Gunko Remembered A Sliver Of Her Past
As Gaban fell down, Collun was traumatized, and he started screaming. His words echoed in Gunko’s mind, and she began to remember an event from her past. In the flashback, she could be seen screaming for her father. In another panel, she can be seen holding the hand of a person whohad the same laugh as Brook.
On the final page, Gunko was running towards Brook. Unfortunately, Imu took over her body before she could meet him again. Despite the limited panels, it is rather clear that Gunko and Brook know each other, although the nature of their relationship remains unknown.
Brook Is Not A Holy Knight
Brook Likely Led A Group Of Knights In A Country
It is rather obvious that Brook and Gunko knew each other a long time ago. While Gunko can be seen shouting for her father, it’s highly unlikely that she is Brook’s daughter. There is a better chancethat Gunko and Brook were friends. In one of the images, Brook can be seen telling a young Gunko that he wants to become a pirate. From their interaction, it seems plausible to assume that Brook left his position to pursue his dream. Now the question is, what did Brook do before becoming a pirate?
Well, it’s my dream to become a pirate. You see. —Brook
When the Straw Hats met Brook in Thriller Bark, the latter did disclose that he used to be the leader of a group before starting his journey as a pirate. This adds fuel to the speculation that Brook could have led the knights of a kingdom in the past. Since Gunko knows him, it’s likely that she belongs to the same country. Whether she was a royal or a commoner remains to be seen. It makes sense why Gunko cares so much about music. Since Brook specializes in tunes, he must have played for her several times before departing, which is why Gunko is so into music.
Brook And Gunko Are Not Father And Daughter
Despite claims about Gunko and Brook being related by blood, there’s actually little to no chance of that being true. If Brook had a daughter, he would have mentioned it to the other Straw Hats. After all, he’s not the type of person to forget such an important detail. It is likely Brook and Gunko’s relationship was similar to Robin and Saul’s. Despite not being tied by blood, they likely cared about each other.
As previously stated, Gunko’s backstory was interrupted by Imu’s arrival. Theleader of the World Government decided to getinvolved and took over Gunko’s body. They revealed that Marijoa was in flames and also expressed dissatisfaction with how the Holy Knights were taking a long time to complete their mission.
Elbaf Is Going To Collapse Soon
Imu’s arrival means that the country of the giants will not stand for long.Unlike the Holy Knights, Imu comesoff as more impatient and vindictive. They are willing to kill anyone without a second thought, making them more dangerous. In the latest chapter, Imu used their powers, which makes it clear that nobody in One Piece comes close to them.
After recruiting Dorry and Brogy, Imu ordered the giants to kill Jarul, who is considered the leader of Elbaf. Considering the number of enemies, it doesn’t seem that Jarul is going to survive. However, things could potentially change if the Monster Trio, Hajrudin, and Loki return. All of them are incredible fighters, and they just might be able to push back Imu.
