The return of theOne Pieceanime has been met with positive reception from fans. They knew that Toei Animation would not let them down, at least in terms of animation.
However, certain decisions by the studio have not gone down well with fans, resulting in a severe backlash. It has started to become a regular occurrenceand Toei’s alteration in the One Piece Episode 1132 hascaused another outrage.
Kuma’s Tragic Story Continued In Episode 1132
In Episode 1132, fans saw a young Bonney for the first time. It also became clear that Bonney was Ginny’s daughter, not Kuma’s. After Ginny was abducted by the Celestial Dragons, she remained in Marijoa where she was subjected to a great deal of torment. The Celestial Dragons performed illicit experiments on Ginny, leading to her developing the Sapphire Scale disease, a rare illness with no known cure.
Ginny wasultimately thrown out of Marijoa andleft to die. Despite being on the precipice of death, Ginny made it to the Sorbet Kingdom, where she made one final call to Kuma, Ivankov, and Dragon. As soon as Kuma heard about Ginny’s voice, he couldn’t control himself and immediately went to the Sorbet Kingdom. Unfortunately, Ginny had already breathed her last and by the time Kuma arrived, he only found a dead body. The latter was distraught as he lost another person who was so close to him.
However, Ginny left behind a young Bonney. Kuma saw baby Bonney, and he immediately knew what had to be done. Kuma decided to take care of Bonney, and he raised her like his own daughter. Bonney loved Kuma, but she was rather hostile towards other kids because they teased her.
One Piece Episode 1132 Made A Change To Bonney’s Moment
In the latest episode, Bonney was seen chasing some kids out of the church. The kids were mocking Bonney and calling her a vampire because she couldn’t go outside in the sun. They didn’t understand that Bonney alsohad the Sapphire Scale disease, so going outside meant certain death.
In the anime, Bonney went after them and made a gesture to show her anger. The gesture had Bonney put her left hand on her right bicep. Anime watchers might think that there wasn’t anything wrong with it, but manga readers know that Toei Animation changed how Oda drew the scene. In the manga, Bonney makes a rather rude gesture with her middle finger. Toei Animation’s decision to alter the scene for the anime has been met with a negative response from viewers. They want the anime to remain true to the manga as much as possible. However, the studio’s decision to make a change shouldn’t be blown out of proportion. It is a small change, and it doesn’t affect the story too much.
One Piece Fans Should Go Easy On Toei Animation
Harassing The Studio And Workers Is Not The Right Approach
As previously stated, Toei Animation’s choice toalter Bonney’s gesture isn’t too bigof a deal. The studio likely wanted to tone down the rudeness because a lot of viewers are rather young. Besides, this isn’t the first time the studio has made a similar decision. In this particular case, the studio does not deserve overt criticism.
However, Toei Animation’s choices in other episodes have been criticized, and rightly so. The studio has unnecessarily added scenes that make Sanji look bad. He was even removed from certain scenes, earning the studio the fans' wrath. In such cases, it is fine to criticize the studio because the scenes paint a bad picture of a character. Even then, fans should not go overboard and harass people working for the studio.
In the last couple of months, fans have gone on social networking sites and targeted animators, producers, and other people associated with the anime. Even Megumi Ishitani, a legendary director, has been a constant target. While not all fans are guilty of attacking the animators, those who do paint a bad picture of the community. Even iffans disagree with Toei’s choice, they should handle things in a civil manner. In return, Toei Animation should take feedback from fans and only make decisions after careful deliberation.
