Summary

There are many options forOblivion Remasteredplayers who want to make new characters or rank up existing ones, with running quests and exploring the world still being effective and rewarding, albeit “outdated” in some regards. Power-leveling inOblivion Remasteredis very easy, if not more so than the original game thanks to the faster leveling system overall and the change of focus from Major Skills to Specializations for classes, so it’s common for players to find themselves up a few levels at a time if they don’t level up immediately. Yet, there are more optimal ways than others to level up new characters or improve existing ones, and one leveling route is still one of the best in the entire game.

The adventure inOblivion Remasteredmay begin when first creating a character, but the impact of one’s choices truly starts appearing after exiting the sewers and roaming Cyrodiil. Some players may want to immediately head to the Imperial Market District, others may have some urgency tocomplete the Kvatch quests, some may want to face bandits in the nearby Vilverin, etc. This depends on personal preferences, whether one is roleplaying, and other factors, so no choice is inherently right or wrong. However, for those who want to optimize their journey, there is one leveling route that is arguably broken.

Oblivion Remastered’s Best Leveling Route Explained

Gathering Alchemy Ingredients in Oblivion Remastered is Very Rewarding

After exiting the Imperial Prison Sewers, players can immediately start this leveling route from the get-go, regardless of whichrace and Birthsign combo inOblivion Remasteredthey pick, and even regardless of the class they choose. One can go to one of three locations to start this, which are:

This is probably the best order if there is one, as it makes the most sense from an in-game time perspective to fast travel between these locations if one plans on selling potions at Colovian Traders in Skingrad. Otherwise, players can go to Kvatch, then Skingrad, then Weynon Priory, and then to the Imperial Market District for other vendors. Either way, these are the best places to go to in order toget Alchemy ingredients inOblivion Remastered.

Alchemy is a relatively fast skill to level, even if one doesn’t pick it as a Major Skill and their class' Specialization is not Magic, though either of these (or both) will help tremendously. From these locations, players can respectively reach Odiil Farm from Weynon Priory (and possibly turn in theAmulet of Kingsto Jauffre if they haven’t already), Shetcombe Farm from Kvatch, and then Surilie Vineyard, Tamika Vineyard, and Undena Orethi’s farm from Skingrad.

Why Oblivion Remastered Players Should Power-Level Alchemy Early

This route will allow players to craft a plethora of Restore Fatigue potions, leveling up fast inOblivion Remastered, even if Alchemy is not a Major Skill they chose. The route will net players a total of:

Players should skip Pumpkins and Watermelons for the sake of thecarry weight in Oblivion Remasteredbeing quite limited, especially on a new character.

Players will be able to craft many potions with this route, increasing the number if theyjoinOblivion Remastered’s Mages Guildbeforehand to grab the full set of tools beyond the Mortar and Pestle from the tutorial in the sewers. Furthermore, selecting either Alchemy as a Major Skill or Magic as one’s Specialization, the level of the skill will increase faster, creating more potions overall. The reason this is important is that players can then sell all the potions to a merchant, preferably at the Mystic Emporium in the Imperial Market District, to both gain a lot of gold and level up Mercantile in the process.

The Mystic Emporium might be the bestshop in Oblivion Remasteredfor those who own the DLC, as it includes Aurelinwae as a vendor, who has 2,000 gold and a Mercantile skill level of 6, making it extremely easy to get good deals on selling potions to her in bulk.

Although it may take a bit to do the route, particularly if it’s the first time players run it, it’s possibly the single best way to power-level a character. Between all the skill rank ups in Alchemy and Mercantile, as well as all the gold from the Restore Fatigue potions, players can essentially do what they want after just one run, let alone two or three, includingunlocking Frostcrag Spire inOblivion Remasteredand all its upgrades (including the Altar of Enchanting and Spellmaking). This is the ultimate way to find oneself with a powerful, high-level character in a very short time, or, at the very least, get a good chunk of the early game done in a matter of one hour or less.

The amount of gold players get from this route varies greatly based on their Alchemy level as well as their Mercantile level, but both can be fortified with Fortify Skill spells to increase gains. This is not doable at level 1, though.
