One of the best aspects ofDisney Dreamlight Valleyis the game’s ability to adapt and add new features that players adore. The success of these features largely hinges not just on their ingenuity, but on player discussions withDisney Dreamlight Valley’s developer, Gameloft. Since releasing in 2023, Gameloft has been incredibly receptive to the opinions of its playerbase, with fan requests often making their way into each of the game’s updates.
Disney Dreamlight Valley’s Royal Tools are one of the most important building blocks of its gameplay. There are five main Royal Tools featured inDisney Dreamlight Valley’s base game: the Royal Fishing Rod, the Royal Phone, the Royal Pickaxe, the Royal Watering Can and the Royal Shovel. However, the Royal Tools have been expanded in both ofDisney Dreamlight Valley’s Expansion Passes with the Royal Hourglass joining in A Rift in Time and the Royal Net joining in the Storybook Vale. These new Royal Tools are essential to driving forward the plot of these Expansion Passes. Just like thefive main Royal Toolsare the building blocks forDisney Dreamlight Valley’s base game, the Royal Hourglass and the Royal Net are foundational pieces of its DLC.
With Royal Tool expansions established, it would only make sense that new tools would be present ifDisney Dreamlight Valleydecided to introduce big-name properties likeStar Warsor the MCU into the hit simulation game.Disney Dreamlight Valleymade its first attempt to introduceStar Warsto the game when the Wonderland Whimsy update dropped. In celebration ofStar Warsday, a litany ofStar Wars-themed furniture items and clothing were added. Player reception to these items was positive, butStar Warscharacter additionsor game-changing features should remain somewhat separate, so players can decide if they want their game impacted by non-Walt Disney Animation or Pixar Studios properties.
Therefore, DLC is the most likely route for theMCU to head toDisney Dreamlight Valley. If this hypothetical Expansion Pass were released, a new Royal Tool would obviously have to accompany the DLC. Surprisingly, this MCU Expansion Pass could be the vehicle forDisney Dreamlight Valley’s most ambitious Royal Tool yet, turning even the biggest Disney diehards to give this new MCU content a chance.
What an MCU Expansion Pass' Royal Tool Could Be
The source material for the MCU is obviously Marvel Comics. Plenty of Marvel films, both within the MCU and from other studios, have played with the source material in ways that are incredibly overt. The best example of this is theSpiderversefranchise, which plays with various art styles, including that of comic books in general. This would be an incredible theme to work into aMarvel-themedDisney Dreamlight ValleyExpansion Pass. The DLC’s Royal Tool could directly contribute to this, as either the Royal Pencil or Royal Paintbrush, physically transforming the art style of the Valley.
Perhaps the Royal Art Utensil would sketch out the very environments that the Marvel characters featured in the new Expansion Pass live in. It could work similarly to the Royal Hourglass, which transforms biomes by shifting sands and floating rock obstacles. A previous Disney game,Epic Mickey, similarly features a magical paintbrush that transforms its world.Oswald, a key player in theEpic Mickeyseries, has already been added toDisney Dreamlight Valley, so calling back to theEpic Mickeyseries in this Expansion Pass could lead to cross-pack gameplay. This would give Disney-dedicated players more incentive to buy the pack if the MCU is not their cup of tea. Incorporating elements like cel-shades or sketchy lines in an MCU Expansion Pass would make it visually distinct from any other content featured inDisney Dreamlight Valley, which would certainly pique the interest of players.
