Summary
While the cities of Cyrodiil give the province its unique look, it is the NPCs populating them that makeOblivion Remasteredfeel so alive. Whether they’re a simple shopkeeper or the leader of the Dark Brotherhood itself, characters are many and varied, and each has their own story to tell. Some of them will send the player on long quests, with promises of adventure, leaving the Hero of Kvatch with a unique reward.
Some, however, will do nothing of the sort. There are plenty more NPCs inOblivion Remasteredthat are curious oddities, just trying to get by in the chaotic times of the end of the Third Era. They won’t offer anything to the player, other than a strange anecdote or some particularly memorable dialogue, but it’s worth seeking them out just for these moments.
6 NPCs That Oblivion Remastered Players Should Talk To
Falanu Hlaalu
Owner of All Things Alchemical in Skingrad, Falanu Hlaalu is a respectable-looking Dunmer woman who has set up shop in one of the most impressive cities in all of Cyrodiil. Many players will recognize her name, Hlaalu, as being the same as the oldGreat House of Morrowindthat aligned itself with the empire. It’s interesting, then, that a member of a noble family should find themselves so far away from their seat of power. That is, until a player brings up the topic of Skingrad, then it becomes very obvious.
Ulrich Leland
The corrupt captain of Cheydinhal’s guard, Ulrich Leland doesn’t care to know the greatChampion of Cyrodiil. In fact, he doesn’t care to know anyone, and he will proceed to tell that to their face every time he meets someone. His spree of repeating the same line again and again has spawned many memes over the years, and watching him brush off every NPC in his path is justOblivion’s radiant dialogue system at its finest.
Ulrich will congratulate the player for ending the Oblivion Crisis, but that won’t make him want to have anything to do with them.
Runs-in-Circles
The folk of the Shivering Isles are a particularly mad bunch, with their share of fork collectors and rooftop fight clubs. But Runs-in-Circles might be the most literally named character in the game, as she, predictably, runs in circles. She might ask for the odd item now and then, but otherwise, she’s happy to just keep running, and despite not having a marked quest associated with her, she has a lot of dialogue reflecting the current state ofSheogorath’s Daedric Realm.
Else God-Hater
Subtlety doesn’t suit everyone, and in Else God-Hater’s case, she likes to wear her feelings on her sleeve. Else has some opinions about theNine Divines, to the point that other townsfolk in Skingrad will comment on not wanting to cross blades with her over religion. Players wanting to know what she thinks can find her in the West Weald Inn, but they might want to find her sooner rather than later, as she will start practising what she preaches.
Weebam-Na
Although Weebam-Na is involved withNocturnal’s Daedric quest, it is not just the quest that he is good to talk to for. Weebam-Na is quite the chatterbox and has had some trouble with another Leyawiin resident over a rat problem. He seems like a normal enough hunter on the surface, but there’s a touch of Sheogorath’s madness in his frustrated voice when you ask him about the topic of Leyawiin, and players won’t regret the pure stream of consciousness.
M’aiq the Liar
M’aiq is a classic inElder Scrollshistory, and if players can find him running between Anvil and Leyawiin, then he might treat them to a unique rumor. M’aiq misses hisColovian Fur HelmfromMorrowind, but he doesn’t seem to miss levitation magic, and keeps his boots firmly on the ground. Players will need to be quick with M’aiq, though, as catching up to his 100 Speed and 100 Athletics is very difficult for most characters.
