Nintendo has been busy preparing for the launch of the Switch 2 in the weeks leading up to the console’s launch, withthe Nintendo Switch App recently being updatedto support the new system’s GameChat feature and streamlining its interface. The ability to screen share and chat with friends while gaming has been a huge draw for consumers, along with the many other improvements and tweaks set to be included in the highly anticipated system. Now, just a day ahead of the Switch 2’s launch, gamers have been given even more good news about what to expect from the new hybrid console.
As reported by Nintendo (and spotted byNintendoSoup), the Nintendo Switch 2 will be capable of saving up to 30,000 screenshots, with 15,000 in system memory and an additional 15,000 on a microSD Express card. Additionally, players eager to save video will be able to save up to 1,500 in system memory, and a whopping 5,000 on a microSD. While impressive, these limits will only apply to players who have updated their console to firmware version 20.1.1 and above, as those below this will only be able to save 1,000 screenshots and 100 videos in the Switch 2’s memory, and microSD Express cards won’t be functional. This is a massive improvement over the original Switch, which only permitted users to save 10,000 screenshots and 100 videos on a microSD card, and it’s not the onlyimprovement the Switch 2 brings to the table. Players can expect a larger screen, 4K support, and new magnetic Joy-Cons with mouse functionality.
