Disney Dreamlight Valley’s next update will give players access to a new companion who comes equipped with a unique set of skills. Max, Prince Eric’s sheepdog from 1989’sThe Little Mermaid, will be joining the roster ofDisney Dreamlight Valley’s available companions on June 18, though players who want to pick him up will need to purchase him from the Premium Shop in his Seafearing Sheepdog Signature Bundle.

TheMysteries of Skull Rock Update inDisney Dreamlight Valleyis set for launch soon and will introduce Peter Pan to the game’s cast, as well as granting full villager status to The Forgotten, the game’s now-reformed original antagonist. Some fans have expressed disappointment at the apparent omission of Pan’s constant fairy confidant, Tinker Bell, but the addition of Max may help to make up for that missing character.

While Peter Pan takes up most of the spotlight in the free June update, players who enjoy usingDisney Dreamlight Valley’s companion petsmay want to give Max some serious consideration. Although his upcoming arrival had been teased previously, new information released by the game’s official social media channels provides a little more insight into what makes this lovable sheepdog so special. In addition to providing the same perks as all other companion animals, Max will be able to assist players with the collecting of resources, as he will be able to dig them up out of the ground. Additionally, Max will be able to have unique interactions with Ariel and Eric, and he comes equipped with some special poses for photo mode.

Max’s arrival in the game had previously been touched on in aDisney Dreamlight ValleyDeveloper Updatein early June. That same update previewed another upcoming feature that could give players even more incentive to pick up Max from the Premium Shop. Starting on June 18, companions will be able to accrue Friendship Levels with the player just like regular villagers. Building up these levels will result in bonuses to resource collection based on the companion’s specific role.

Players can also look forward to the upcoming release ofDisney Dreamlight Valley’s first community companion. In the lead-up to Mysteries of Skull Rock, developers asked players to visit the game’s official website to help pick the aspects of a new animal companion for the game. All five rounds of voting have concluded, and while there is no official release date for the community companion yet, players can expect to see a baby dragon with a cottagecore aesthetic, floral head and neck accessories, and a theme-specific trail left behind it.
