As part of an update on the Nintendo Today app, the company revealedSplatoon Raiders, a new spinoff game within the franchise coming to the Switch 2. The debut trailer showcases Deep Cut, a trio ofcharacters originally introduced inSplatoon 3,as they travel to a new location called the Spirhalite Islands chasing a new rumor, eventually becoming stranded after a crash-landing. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn’t share too much else in terms of gameplay or even a potential launch window.
Splatoon Raiders Coming to the Nintendo Switch 2
While details remain slim, Nintendo has confirmed that players will be taking the role of a mechanic with a mysterious background. Newly added images of the character also show off what appears to be homemade gear, including a weapon that appears to utilize common items like a bottle and rope, alongside a makeshift backpack and even a walking robot. Players will have a base of operations in a floating ship and Nintendo promises that the island will have a unique atmosphere. Interestingly enough, the game appears to be heavily inspired by theSplatoon 3single-player campaign, with no mention of a multiplayer side as of yet.
Even with a new game announcement, Nintendo isn’t forgetting aboutSplatoon 3either. Alongside theSplatoon Raidersreveal, the company also confirmed a big new update coming on June 12. Even after announcing anend to regular updates forSplatoon 3, Nintendo is using Version 10 to add tons of new content and quality of life improvements. In fact,Splatoon 3will have improved visuals and frame rate on the Switch 2, with crossplay ensuring that players on either console can continue to battle one another.
