A new horror game that looks like a combination of anime,Silent Hill, and first-person perspective, calledFractured Blooms, has been revealed at theSummer Game Fest.Fractured Blooms' developer is none other than Serenity Forge, which may sound familiar to horror game enthusiasts.
Serenity Forge is the publisher ofDoki Doki Literature Club Plus!, which is notorious for having a cute and light-hearted story that quickly crumbles into a full-fledged psychological horror title. WhileFractured Bloomsisn’t developed by Team Salvato, the upcoming sim looks to have some similar twists and turns in it.
Fractured Bloomshas received a release trailer that sets up the scene. Initially, the trailer seems like it’s for a light-hearted farming sim game, possibly similar to something likeStardew Valley, albeit in an anime-esque first-person graphical style. However, it quickly becomes clear that something’s off, with the narration becoming unnerving and nonsensical, and a normal routine like slicing a tomato instead looks like it’s being violently struck and bleeds. Within seconds, the environment starts to change, first with what looks like blood streaming through the previously charming garden, and then with the world starting to rip apart with odd distortions emerging through cracks in the house. The distortions bear some similarities to whenSilent Hillgames shift to The Otherworld. Perhaps the most curious notion is that this game is inspired by a true story.
What To Expect From Fractured Blooms
Serenity Forge has gone into a bit more detail about the game, though much of it is still being kept secretive. Players will take control of the protagonist Angie, who isstuck in a time loopin a “world that is soft and still.” The game does actually have a farming sim angle to it, as players will have to manage resources and ensure that they have enough to eat. The gameplay loop will see something shifting every day, which may start out small and gradually progress into larger and more disturbing developments. It adds that the player’s actions matter, and that the cycle “always remembers.”
At this time,Fractured Bloomsdoesn’t have a release date or window, but players can wishlist the game on Steam for PC. The title already has system requirements, so players can make sure their systems are up to the task now. It doesn’t look too resource-heavy on the minimum side, with players needing an Nvidia GTX 1060 or better to play. However, in order to play at 1080 60FPS, users will need to have anNvidia GeForce RTX 3060/AMD equivalent or better.
