During Summer Game Fest’s PC showcase, developer Perfect Garbage got a chance to share a glimpse of its upcoming farming sim with a supernatural twist,Grave Seasons. Exuding some of that irresistibleStardew Valleyvibe that gamers so enjoy, the upcomingGrave Seasonsalso adds a touch of true crime and horror.
The beginning of June was filled with a lot of excitement for gamers, with PlayStation’s State of Play, the Xbox Game Showcase, and Summer Game Fest 2025 taking place within days of each other. There were many standout announcements, though one of the most memorable for many will likely be the long-awaited unveiling of theXbox ROG handheld that’s being made in collaboration with Asus. But plenty of other trailers were vying for attention as well.
Some of thebiggest reveals during the Summer Game Fest showcasewere the release date forDying Light: The Beast,the announcement of aMortal Shellsequel, the unveiling ofResident Evil Requiem,and three new titles being published by Blumhouse Games. Among these wasGrave Seasons,a narrative-driven farming sim set in the cozy town of Ashenridge. Of course, all is not as it seems, and the player, recently escaped from prison, soon finds that the area where they set up their new farm was perhaps not the best choice.
Fans of Horror and Stardew Valley Should Keep an Eye on Grave Seasons
In addition to fishing, mining, and growing crops, the protagonist of Perfect Garbage’sGrave Seasonswill investigate a string of murdersthat have been disturbing the tranquility of Ashenridge. There’s a serial killer on the loose, and to figure out who it is and put a stop to the mayhem, it will be necessary to befriend the townsfolk and gain their trust. Along the way, the player may just have a change of heart and choose to romance the killer instead.
The reveal trailer forGrave Seasonsshared during Summer Game Festcertainly grabbed the attention of horror fans, with its quaint setting complemented by an unsettling soundtrack and dimly lit crime scenes. The game has already been added to more than 100,000 wish lists on Steam, even though no firm release date has been announced.Grave Seasonswill launch sometime in 2026 on PC and consoles.
During the showcase, Blumhouse also unveiled two other projects in the works for horror game enthusiasts. InSleep Awake, a first-person narrative-focused experience, people have begun disappearing in their sleep and the populace of the last city on Earth is trying desperately to stay awake. Vermila Studios’Crisol: Theater of Idolsis set in a “nightmarish version of Spain,” where players will dive into religion, folklore, and rituals. Blumhouse has also confirmed that it is working on afilm adaptation of Kinetic Games’ psychological horror hitPhasmophobia.
