Now that video game adaptations have become a highly popular trend with countless studios taking a crack at the whip withArcane, The Last of Us,andFallout, it wasn’t a big surprise when the fans heard that they’d get a live-action adaptation of Sony Santa Monica’s PlayStation hit,God of War. Updates on the adaptation have been light on the ground ever since its development was initially announced, but now, it has been reported that a writer and producer who worked on the Netflix adaptation ofThe Witcherhas joined theGod ofWarwriters' room team.
Announced in 2022, theadaptation ofGod of Warlooked like it could have hit a roadblockwhen several scripts for the first season were written before Sony and Amazon decided to move in a different creative direction. Thankfully, the series found its new showrunner inStar Trekand the re-imaginedBattlestar Galacticatelevision series creator, Ronald D. Moore. Moore recently revealed that he couldn’t play theGod of Wargames due to being unfamiliar with a controller. This may raise some red flags for those who would want someone familiar with the inner workings of Kratos and its intricate Norse world, but seeing as Moore has had a lot of success with his other endeavors, it seems as though it could be in safe hands. The good news is thatGod of War’slong-time creative director, writer, and producer, Cory Barlog, is also attached as a producer to oversee the TV adaptation.

That’s my new thing.”
