The following contains minor spoilers for My Hero Academia.
In the newest spinoff forMy Hero Academiathat focuses on vigilante heroes, we are treated to glimpses of All Might at moments closer to his prime.Prime All Might has been a mystical figurein the series, something alluded to that builds up the already impressive power of the number one Pro Hero even more.
Given the timeline of events that led to All Might’s power diminishing inMy Hero Academia, just how strong is the eighth holder of One For All during Koichi Haimawari’s arc as a vigilante? How much stronger is he in this series than in the original story continuity?
Prime All Might’s Appearance In Vigilantes
There’s a Reason All For One Is in Hiding
In the beginning episode ofMy Hero Academia: Vigilantes, All Might has a brief appearance punching out a villain as the audience is getting introduced to the world. In the manga, he makes subsequent appearances throughout the story and is featured in flashbacks that provide a glimpse of All Might closer to his prime.
The events ofMy Hero Academia: Vigilantesare thought to take place just a few years before the start of the main series. Although not explicitly stated, many of the characters from the main series that we meet like Shota Aizawa and Tensei Ida don’t look to be noticeably different in age. We also see All Might’s skinny form, meaning that he has already had the climactic battle wherehe thought he killed All For One. In the mainMy Hero Academiaseries, All Might states that his battle with All For One occurred five years before he met with Deku, which realistically means the events inMy Hero Academia: Vigilantesshould be around that timeframe at the earliest.
“Pretty gross, right? I got this in a big fight five years back. My respiratory system was basically destroyed. I lost my whole stomach. All the surgeries have pretty much worn me out. And it can’t be fixed. Right now, I can only do hero work for about three hours a day.” -All Might explaining his condition to Izuku Midoriya in Episode 2
We can assume that All Might is much stronger inVigilantesthan he is in the main series because he doesn’t have to deal with his time limit nearly as much. In Chapters 92 and 93 of theVigilantesmanhwa, we see in a flashback seven years prior that All Might can operate as a hero for over 72 hours straight and still has enough strength left to nearly instantly defeat over 100 villains whose Quirks were buffed by All For One.
Kurogiri: All Might once again lives up to expectations. Neutralizing several dozen villains in the blink of an eye. Why this stunt barely bought us any time at all.
All For One: Wrong. It bought us three seconds.

The small taste we get of All Might near his primeis impressive, giving a real sense of his power by showing he can travel across Japan quickly to handle any incident that might arise, no matter the challenge. All Might also doesn’t shy away from lesser acts of heroism, as we are given a multiple-panel spread of him doing several small acts of kindness at once with his immense speed, including saving a cute, innocent duck leading its baby ducklings down the street.
All Might’s Diminished Power in Vigilantes
How He Deals With His Injury While Still Performing Hero Work
In the presentVigilantestimeline, it’s unclear how much the time limit and the injury are impeding All Might’s hero work, but he seems much closer to his prime than he does in the main series. In Chapter 37,All Might is still able to speed aroundto different cities in Japan, apologizing to Tsukauchi for being late because he had something to do in Okinawa.
Another reason to think that All Might is close to his prime inVigilantesis that we don’t see him coughing up blood or suffering too much from repeatedly transforming. In a bonus manga chapter,All Might continually has to change into his muscle formmultiple times to resolve incidents while meeting with Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi. He excuses himself various times from their meeting in a café to resolve incidents, while only a small amount of blood is shed due to the shock of his secret being discovered by the detective. Although All Might’s appearances are limited in the series, it’s nice to see him performing hero work closer to the levels hyped up during the original story.
My Hero Academia
Cast
In My Hero Academia, some humans have superpowers called quirks. Izuku Midoriya, nicknamed Deku, is not one of them. Deku has always idolized heroes like the number one hero, All Might, and since he was a child, he has always wanted to be a hero. However, his lack of a quirk has always held him back, but a chance encounter with All Might after discovering a classmate in danger sets Deku on the path to becoming a true hero. My Hero Academia centers around Deku and a class of heroes-in-training at UA. This school shapes young quirk users into future heroes through fake rescue missions, combat training, and other hero-tempering tasks. With young Deku inheriting the “One-For-All” quirk, he will learn what it means to be a true hero while facing off with dastardly supervillains.
