When it comes to gaming on PC, the right set of peripherals can make all the difference. For some, this means prioritizing precision with a high-DPI mouse or mechanical keyboard with tactile feedback. For others, it’s more about comfort during long gaming sessions, where anergonomic designor wireless setup can go a long way. However, in spite of personal preference, some peripherals stand out as well-rounded hardware that can accommodate just about any setup, and MSI’sVersa Pro Wirelessmouse is one of those.
The Versa Pro Wireless is a midweight ergonomic gaming mouse by MSI that just launched on May 27, and while it doesn’t necessarily reinvent the gaming mouse, it does everything in its power to improve it. Built around a powerful sensor and connectivity, durable optical switches,long-lasting battery life, and a comfortable design, MSI’s latest gaming mouse is one of the best currently on the market, reinforcing the company’s position as a leading manufacturer in gaming peripherals and accessories.
It Doesn’t Get Much Better Than the Versa Pro Wireless
The Versa Pro Wireless Looks and Feels Great
Even before the Versa Pro Wireless is powered up and connected, it makes a great impression straight out of the box. For starters, it’s immensely comfortable to hold, and its high-quality materials give it a durability that not every gaming mouse can boast about. Whilelightweight gaming micehave their merits, it’s in the name of midweight mice to be the best of both worlds — light enough to float across the mouse pad but heavy enough to feel dependable in the hand. Weighing in at 97g, the Versa Pro Wireless hits the sweet spot when it comes to weight.
And it doesn’t compromise at all on style either, despite being a midweight gaming mouse. The heavier a gaming mouse becomes, the bulkier and boxier it generally looks, but that’s not the case with the Versa Pro Wireless. It has the framework of aheavier gaming mousebut still maintains some semblance of the sleekness and slimness that usually accompanies a lighter mouse. Customizable RGB lighting also shines through the cozy textured grips on each side of the mouse, as well as the mouse wheel and the MSI logo on the body.
The customizable RGB lighting didn’t prove to be consistent, as it wouldn’t auto-launch and would need to be done manually using MSI Center, but it’s unclear whether this was a hardware issue with the mouse itself or an issue with MSI Center.
The Versa Pro Wireless Is Versatile, Efficient, and Highly Customizable
From a functional standpoint, the Versa Pro Wireless can prove useful to just about any type of gamer, thanks to its highly customizable nature. There are a whopping 13 programmable buttons on it that make it somewhat rare among high-end gaming mice, and their placement requires hardly any reach at all, ensuring those who take advantage of such customization aren’t worn out by the time their gaming session comes to an end. With MSI Center, users can customize each button on the mouse, itsRGB lightingeffects, DPI, and more.
Speaking ofmouse DPI, the Versa Pro Wireless can reach upwards of 26,000 DPI by customizing it via MSI Center. Users can save five custom DPI presets in MSI Center as well that can be easily cycled through using the DPI button on the bottom of the mouse. Also included on the bottom of the mouse is a switch for the Versa Pro Wireless' tri-mode connectivity, which includes Bluetooth, wireless, and the option to turn the mouse off. The mouse wheel also has an infinite scroll function that can be enabled via the button just beneath it, and the wheel can be tilted left and right as well.
The Versa Pro Wirless mouse’s battery lasts around 80 hours with RGB turned off, but it can still last just under half of that with RGB turned on, making it one of thebest gaming miceon the market when it comes to battery life. It takes almost no time to charge at all either, and the included charging cable is flexible enough that continuing to use it while it’s charging isn’t an issue. It’s also fairly quiet as well, with clicks that are resistant enough to register meaningful feedback and prevent accidental presses, but not so much that using it gets tiresome during longer play sessions.
Testing it in active gaming, the Versa Pro Wireless performed excellently. As an avidDestiny 2player who prefersmouse and keyboardto controller, I took the Versa Pro Wireless for a joyride through several lengthy play sessions, and not once did it let me down. It continuously proved to be quick, precise, and comfortable, leaving me more than happy to call it my new gaming mouse of choice. It’s very hard not to stress just how comfortable this mouse really is — how well it fits in the palm of the hand and how its gently textured sides and mouse wheel make it much easier to maintain a grip on.
The Versa Pro Wireless also showed zero signs of connectivity issues, whether it was in wireless mode or Bluetooth.
All things considered, the MSI Versa Pro Wireless is impressive, to say the least, balancing form and function in a way that almost any type of gamer can benefit from. It might not introduce revolutionary new features, but it takes nearly every aspect of what makes a great gaming mouse and improves it to deliver a sleek, ergonomic peripheralthat is more than worth investing in. With excellent battery life, painless connectivity, plenty of customization options, and a design that genuinely feels good in the hand, it’s the kind of gaming mouse that makes it hard to go back to the status quo.
