AfterResident Evilseries producer Jun Takeuchi initially asked fans to wait a little longer for more news about the next title, the ruse was unraveled a short time later to the shock of the audience.Resident Evil Requiemwill take players to the ruins of Raccoon City, as FBI agent Grace Ashcroft investigates a crime scene at the remains of the Wrenwood Hotel. Years before the events ofRequiem, Grace’s mother, Alyssa Ashcroft fromResident Evil Outbreak, was murdered at that same hotel.
Although theSummer Game Fest Showcase held plenty of surprisesand left fans with some questions, a source claims thatResident Evilplayers will not wait long for additional details about the upcoming project. On June 9, insider AestheticGamer stated that an official news drop aboutResident Evil Requiemwould take place a couple of days from their post, and said it would happen before Friday, June 13.
More Resident Evil Requiem News Could Drop Later This Week
Though no further details about what this could mean were provided, other users took guesses as to what Capcom or its partners would show off aboutResident Evil Requiem. Following the game’s reveal, Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley said that a playable demo ofResident Evil Requiemwill be available in August during Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. Keighley will also host Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19.
As of this writing, the only known details aboutResident Evil Requiemare its February 27 release date and that it will run on Capcom’s RE Engine with new ray tracing and lighting techniques.
