One heel has a robot. The other has a murder weapon. Welcome to Monster High, where Mattel’s latest Skullector release doesn’t just flirt withhorror, it rips the mask right off it. Literally. The new M3GAN doll, dropping June 10 for Fang Club members and June 11 for the rest of us, is unlike anything the line’s done before. She comes dressed to kill, decked out in code-print tights, a circuit-board dress, and a bow that’s way too innocent for what’s lurking underneath. And yes, her “human” face pops clean off to reveal the cold, dead stare of an AI gone rogue.
Timed ahead ofM3GAN 2.0’s June 27 theatrical release, this drop blends Monster High flair with full-blown sci-fi horror energy. The build quality is getting real praise, early hands-on collectors are saying it feels more like a high-end figure than a movie promo. And Mattel knows what they’ve got here. Between the premium packaging, clever references, and the face-swap feature, this isn’t just a toy, it’s a statement piece. Something that feels as collectible as it is chaotic.
M3GAN Joins Monster High, And She’s Absolutely Unhinged
So her outer “human” face just pops right off to show the robotic face underneath. It’s the first Monster High doll to do this, and you can see why Mattel’s proud of it, even the packaging shows both faces side by side. The mechanism looks clean, and it captures that creepy uncanny valley thing that made M3GAN work so well in the movie.
M3GAN’s wearing this glossy circuit-board print dress with mesh sleeves and a bow that nails her look. But check out the shoes, one Mary Jane heel has “Bruce the Robot” on it, the other has a paper-cutter blade reference. Someone definitely did their homework. She comes with code-print tights, this “PurRpetual Petz” bat purse, and a display stand. The dress has a proper sewn underskirt, not just printed fabric. Early reviews say everything feels solid and well-made.
This joins Mattel’s Skullector line that’s been turning horror icons into Monster High dolls. They’ve done Elvira, Chucky, Annabelle, Greta from Gremlins. What’s cool about this line is they treat these like actual art pieces. Premium packaging, thoughtful details, limited runs. M3GAN continues that while adding the face-swap feature.
Dropping this before M3GAN 2.0 makes sense, but there’s more to it. Gerard Johnstone directed both M3GAN movies, and he’s also directing the upcoming Monster High live-action film.
Pre-orders start June 10th at 9 AM PT for Fang Club members, then June 11th for everyone else onMattelCreations.com. One per customer, and you need that $9.99/year Fang Club membership for early access. These limited Mattel drops usually sell fast, especially with innovative features like this. Being ready when they go live seems important.
Mattel’s calling her the “apex of artificial intelligence … or … artificial malevolence” and warning people not to “activate M3GAN under any circumstances.” The horror marketing works well with Monster. So mark your calendar for June 10th if you’ve got Fang Club access, or June 11th for general release. With everything this doll is bringing to the table, it looks like one of those limited releases people will actually be excited to own rather than just buying because it’s limited.
