Marvel Rivalsrecently released its latest patch, which includes the launch of the Galacta’s Gift event, Chrono Shield Cards, an earnable Costume Coin, and more. Excitingly,Marvel Rivals’ mid-season patch is just around the corner, bringing fresh balance changes and a new playable character, withUltron expected to be a Strategistbased on leaks. However, though the game has been a smash success since its December release, some fans are already setting their sights on what’s next in Season 3.

While several sources claim to know which heroes are in development, based on findings inMarvel Rivals' game files, nothing is certain. Some names may have even been added as red herrings to throw dataminers and leakers off track. Regardless, with a new season of the third-person hero shooter on the horizon, new characters are coming soon, and there are plenty of Marvel Comics characters not yet in the game who deserve to take center stage in Season 3.

Characters Marvel Rivals Shouldn’t Hesitate to Add

Blade

Blade’s addition to the playable roster looks to be more of a matter of time than anything else. Initially seen battling Dracula in Season 1’s lore, he’s since defeated the villain and retreated to a resting spot on Wakanda’s Birnin T’Challa map. While some believeBlade’s appearance inMarvel Rivalsmeans he’s slated for release in Season 3, others think the developers might draw it out further, showing him continuing to sleep or undergo a prolonged training arc before officially joining the roster. Nevertheless, fans of the game have already expressed excitement that the Daywalker could arrive in Season 3, especially with the tantalizing prospect of him wielding both a katana and a shotgun.

Deadpool

SinceMarvel Rivals' Closed Alpha, Deadpool has been on the community’s wishlist as a playable hero. This isn’t particularly surprising, given the Merc with a Mouth’s skyrocketing popularity over the years, and NetEase Games could be playing with fire if itleaves Deadpool off theMarvel Rivalsrosterfor too long. Interestingly, there is an Easter egg for Deadpool in the form of a small sticker in Tokyo 2099: Shin-Shibuya, and more recently, potential voice interactions between Spider-Man and Deadpool have also been uncovered. With a Deadpool nameplate already in the game, thanks toMarvel SNAPrewards, Season 3 might finally be Wade Wilson’s time to break the fourth wall and the meta.

Mysterio

Spider-Man villains have ranked highly among players' most-wanted characters inMarvel Rivals, and Mysterio is no exception. As one of the most popular suggestions, Reddit user GhostsinGlass was inspired to create aMarvel Rivalsconcept for Mysterio. Fittingly, and true to his lore, this version places the supervillain in the Strategist role, with abilities designed to counter dive characters like Spider-Man and create potential robotic clones of himself. Unfortunately, Quentin Beck doesn’t appear in the game’s files, though that doesn’t rule out the possibility of him being a well-kept secret for Season 3.

Gambit

Gambit garnered 15% of user votesin aMarvel Rivalspollasking what heroes players would like to see come to the game, trailing closely behind Deadpool and Ghost Rider. With plenty of other X-Men already in the game, it makes sense for the thief and deadly kinetic card-throwing mutant to join the roster in Season 3. Of course, following Emma Frost’s addition in Season 2, NetEase might want to take a brief step back from adding mutants. Still, Gambit’s popularity is undeniable, especially after his appearance in the 2024 filmDeadpool & Wolverine, and the developers may not want to miss the opportunity to add him while the hype is high. That said, with Channing Tatum’s take on the character set to re-appear inAvengers: Doomsday, he will likely remain an exciting addition far beyond Season 3 if NetEase wants to hold off.
