After Emma Frost’s introductionatthe beginning of Season 2,Marvel Rivalsnow brings Ultron into the fight as the newest strategistat the head of Season 2.5. He brings a new way to play the role entirely and can influence how team compositions are made across the entire game.

While previous strategists inMarvel Rivalshave been somewhat similar in their gameplay as backline healers, Ultron takes to the skies and joinsthe likes of Iron ManandHuman Torch. This has reinforced the flyers' meta throughout the game, as he can ensure the safety of his teammates from almost anywhere. That said, he does have his nuances that will make players rethink how they approach certain engagements. Here are the best tips on how to play Ultron.

Ability Breakdown

Best Strategies

Due to Ultron’s flying nature, his strengths come from having an overhead view of the fight. Keeping a lookout on all of your teammates at a given moment will dictate the best places to put his healing drone and where he should position himself to make the most use of his long-range basic attack. The safest placement, most of the time, for this drone is around your team’s tanks. However, time may come when it is best to put it on someone like a DPS or another strategist if they are getting focused too much. This goes in tandem with distributing his shielding abilities optimally, as it is one of his only other ways to mitigate damage for his entire team. Stay close enough to your teammates where they can benefit from these abilities as much as possible, but not too close where you are almost touching the ground and making it easier for the enemy duelists to snag you out of the sky.

If you are fortunate enough to have an Iron Man on your team with you, histeam-up attackis easily one of his strongest moves. All of Ultron’s abilities can be somewhat lackluster in healing when compared to the rest of the cast, so having another option that also serves as damage output, when necessary, can make playing him much easier. Despite that, he is almost always healing someone when the drone is up, and the damage that he can dish out himself is something the enemy team should not overlook.

Ultron’s ultimate can be tricky to use, as it also does not heal as much when compared to other strategists' ultimate abilities and can struggle to get the kill on tanks. The best way to use this is to wait fora teammate like Magikor Winter Soldier, for example, to use their ultimate abilities and then pop yours in tandem. This makes sure they can get the most out of their ultimates by staying alive and can get kills easier since you would be contributing to damaging the targets they go after. He does get his ultimate back rather quickly so long as he is interacting with his teammates with his abilities, so it should be available frequently throughout a match.

Arguably, the most important thing to be aware of when playing Ultron is seeing what the enemy team composition looks like. Despite Ultron being a flyer, some of the strongest characters in the current sandbox are hit-scan projectile-based duelists. This means characters like Hawkeye, Hela, and evenfellow strategists like Luna Snowcan besuper strong at taking Ultron out. When they are played effectively, they will give any flying character a hard time. That said, having a strong team composition on your own can help alleviate this. Having at least two tanks can ensure there are larger threats for the enemy duelists to deal with, especially when they are characters like Magneto and Groot who can completely dictate the pace of a match. If your fellow duelists are daring, diving characters like Spider-Manand Iron Fist can make sure no one on the enemy team can sit in the backline comfortably.
