While superheroes may still be everywhere these days, it looks like not every comic book title will be seeing the light of day. Earlier this year, Warner Bros. ended up canceling the much-anticipatedWonder Womantitle, and recently, EA has done the same thing with Cliffhanger’sBlack Panthergame. Even though not much was known aboutBlack Panther, some of the rumored concepts should really get to live on in another Marvel title. Specifically, they could have a home within the upcomingMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydraor its sequel.

Very little was known about Cliffhanger’sBlack Panthergame, but it was believed to be a new superhero open-world adventure, with some even believing it could have elements ofMiddle-earth: Shadow of Mordor’sNemesis system, which would be fantastic to see. On top of that, the title was allegedly going to feature multiple protagonists, with each vying for the title of Black Panther. Although no one really knows what that was actually going to look like, the potential of a system like that is worth exploring further.

Black Panther’s Best Concepts Should Be Explored in Marvel 1943

Black Panther Was Allegedly Trying Something New

Much like what fans have seen in the twoMarvel Cinematic UniverseBlack Panthermovies, they were apparently going to be able to follow multiple protagonists as they attempted to claim the mantle. Those protagonists included the likes of T’Challa, his sister Shuri, and the infamous Killmonger. Together. they were allegedly going to be fighting back against a Skrull invasion, the famous shapeshifting aliens from the Marvel universe. The exact specifics of what this would entail remain a mystery, but based on the premise alone, it could have been a fantastic treat for fans of the character.

It just feels like a game such as that could lead to something truly special. Players could assume the role of these characters, fight their way throughan open-world Wakanda, and hopefully claim the title of Black Panther once it was all said and done. As long as the gameplay was top-notch, that could be such a fun experience. It would be made even better by the fact that players may have actually had a say in what character came out with the title at the end, allowing them to make their own mark on the Marvel universe. And while the game’s cancellation likely means they will never see this come to fruition,Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydracould take the concept for a spin.

Marvel 1943 Could Take That Idea Even Further

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydrawill also be putting aBlack Panther front-and-center alongside Captain America. This time, Black Panther will be coming in the form of Azzuri, the King of Wakanda during World War 2. Not much is known about the specifics of the story, but it currently seems like he will be the only Black Panther players will be playing. However, if the game does well, then a sequel will surely be on the horizon. And that sequel could deliver what Cliffhanger wanted to.

A sequel toMarvel 1943could see Captain America go to the modern day and once again strike an alliance with Wakanda. But, this time, Wakanda could be without its Black Panther. Throughout the story, players could follow multiple characters as they attempt to claim that mantle. Then, decisions that were made throughout the game could dictate who actually ends up with that title by the end of it. And if a full-on sequel did not want to explore that story, then the studio could release a smallersequel likeMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Moralesinstead and have a Black Panther-focused game affect what comes next in the mainline series.

Of course, this is all contingent on whetherMarvel 1943is actually a successand Skydance New Media wants to tell a Black Panther story. But, if Cliffhanger’sBlack Pantherwas actually going to feature multiple protagonists vying for the title, then a concept like that is too good to be left on the cutting room floor. So, hopefully someone is able to take it for a spin in a future Marvel game.
