As the bigfirst-party launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2,Mario Kart Worldhas received a lot of attention for its innovations made to the racing series. Among the new features, the game added Free Roam and Knockout Tour modes, providing players with alternatives to classics like Grand Prix. Even Grand Prix was reworked, with players now traveling to the courses at the start of a race. With numerous players checking out the game and its new mechanics, many clips have been shared online.
As spotted byDexerto, one of these clips came from a Reddit user known as TheIronicTea and involved the infamousBlue Shell inMario Kart World. The clip took place on the Bowser’s Castle course as the player was in the lead using Stingby. As TheIronicTea was about to head up a boost ramp, they received the notification that a Blue Shell was tracking them. Unfortunately, the item detonated on the player just before they reached the top of the ramp. This resulted in them losing all their momentum. The situation was worsened by the steep incline, causing the kart to be unable to make forward progress. Eventually, the racer decided to go into reverse, allowing them to run over a boost pad and continue through the course. However, when all was said and done, they had dropped to 12th position.
