Summary
There have been many iterations of the well-knownTransformersfranchise, and many have different scales used for measuring up the iconic characters within it. Bumblebee is one of the most well-known characters among the many Autobots featured in The Transformers. He has been portrayed in numerous sizes, but the range used is not as grand asthose used for Optimus Prime.
There have been many instances where Bumblebee, along with the rest of theTransformers, has not been given official documentation for his height. While it is okay to speculate, these instances cannot be used, as they may compromise the integrity of the other entries. This is due to Bumblebee not receiving any truly massive forms that would warrant a place even if the size was not known.
7Generation 1
Bumblebee Stands at 15 Feet
In the Generation 1 series of the franchise, Bumblebee is very cheerful and eager to please. He has a deep and personal bond with Spike Witwicky. However, he also shows a deep level of loyalty despite this youthful wonder. This version appears in the classic G1 series,The Transformers: The Movie, and comics published byMarvelin the 1980s.
Bumble has a very round aesthetic, which can be attributed to his vehicle design being based off of a Volkswagen Beetle. This does make him appear more friendly, which can be agood thing for toy sales.
6Transformers (2007)
Bumblebee Stands at 16 Feet
This was the firstlive-action appearance for theTransformers, and featured plenty of well-known characters with reimagined esthetics. These versions of the characters were less gimmicky and cartoon-like, in favor of a more serious tone.
While many characters show off their firepower in military-like forms, Bumblebee gets a whole new look in the form of a Chevrolet Camaro. While all the characters look heavy and robotic, Bumblebee has sleeker details. His role in the film quickly made him a favorite among new and old fans alike.
The preliminary scale for Bumblebee in the movie was actually 18 feet. However, he was scaled down for the final product.
5Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Bumblebee Stands at 16 Feet and 2 Inches
While it might not be a lot, Bumblebee did see a small increase in scale for this sequel to the original live-actionTransformersfilm. Michael Bay would reprise his directing role for this film and take the franchise into a more action-focused direction. In the first film, Bumblebee is awkward and charming, being a newfound friend to Sam and building a bond.
This time around, he is more established but also a slightly more complex character that expresses his emotions more. Bumblebee is now a newer model of the same car, with sharper details and visual upgrades. This shows him growing intothe great hero he becomes.
4The Boston Globe trading cards
There have been many tie-in trading card promotions linked to movies. Some of these use screen captures from the movie they relate to, while others sport artwork designed specifically for the cards. These cards will come with information and stats about the characters on them.
Sometimes, these cards embellish information from films and adopt their own blend of lore. Bumble appears to be a mix of the live-action films' more robotic esthetics, blended with his smoother and more friendly design from those of Generation 1. This lists his vehicle form, also known as an Alt Mode, simply as Sports Car.
3Transformers: The Last Knight
Bumblebee Stands at 18 Feet
Bumblebee would reach the heights of his original preliminary film scale size with the release ofTransformers: The Last Knight. This filmintroduces a lot of Cybertronian loreand mythology elements. Again, he has seen an upgrade to a newer model of Chevrolet Camaro.
Bumblebee has had a lot of character growth over the course of the live-action films and is now shown to be much more fierce and independent. This is akin to how he is portrayed insome of the animatedTransformersseries, where he needs to step in to fill a leadership role.
2Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
Bumblebee Stands at 20 Feet
This continuity is featured across many mediums. However, it started with that of a video game. The story starts withthe ongoing war on the planet Cybertron. Bumblebee’s appearance is very sleek and shiny, not really resembling the previous entries on this list.
The biggest standout is how boxy his chest looks. He is loyal to the cause led by Optimus Prime, and is both heroic and enthusiastic. His vehicle form does not resemble that of an Earth vehicle and is designed to look like a futuristic video game stylization.
1Transformers One
B-127 Stands at 26 Feet and 4 Inches
Many of the characters from theTransformersfranchise stand significantly taller than in previous forms for theTransformers Onefilm. This incarnation of Bumblebee is named B-127 and has a very fun-loving and friendly personality.
This can make him annoying to some of the other characters, but it also makes him endearing and lovable to the audience. Just like with the previous entry, his vehicle form is far more alien to that of an Earth vehicle.
