Summary
King of the Hillis making its way back to the small screen with a new season of episodes onHulu, almost 20 years since the original show came to an end after a whopping thirteen seasons. However, some fans aren’t as excited as others, as they’ve noticed that one of their favorite characters from the series can’t be seen in any of its recent images or clips.
King of the Hillfollows the lives of Hank Hill, a propane salesman, his wife, Peggy, their son, Bobby, and their niece Luanne, as well as the Hills' neighbors, Dale Gribble, Bill Dauterive, and Boomhauer, in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas. The new series, which premieres on Hulu, will feature a time jump of around 8 years after the original series finale. Once an awkward young boy, the time jump can be noticed by Bobby Hill’s age, who is now a 21-year-old man who is living in Dallas. When fans last saw Bobby in the 2009 episode “To Sirloin With Love,” he was taking part in the regional meat evaluation tournament, so it will be interesting to see if his relationship with his father, Hank, has grown into a more respectful kinship rather than the complex and frustrated one from previous seasons.
King of the Hill Fans Notice Ladybird Is Missing From the Revival
As spotted byComicbook, it seems as though Hank’s loyal and beloved dog, Ladybird, won’t be inthe new series ofKing of the Hill, and fans are beside themselves with grief. The purebred Georgia bloodhound, who was around 13/14 years old when the show ended, would already be extremely old if she were still alive, however, fans are noticing that they can’t find her in any of the revival’s images. Due to the time jump, some of the show’s cast have since passed on, like Brittany Murphy and Tom Petty, who played Luanne and Lucky, but Ladybird’s absence is breaking the hearts of fans because of the realization that she has died in the years previous and likely won’t be in the new episodes.
“Ladybird is going to be dead in the King of the Hill revival, and if they mention it at all, I will cry and cry and cry,“said one sad fanon Twitter/X, whileanother expressed, “Just realized Ladybird won’t be in the King of the Hill revival.” AnotherLadybird fansaid, “Just realized Ladybird won’t be alive in the King of the Hill reboot and almost got brought to tears.“King of the Hillshowrunner, Saladin K. Patterson, told fans during the recent ATX TV Festival in Texas that the team has found “opportunities” to reference those who have passed on since fans last saw their characters so maybe this too will happen for Ladybird and viewers will finally be able to say a proper goodbye to the dog who Hank loved more than anything.
Fans will also get to know how life has been for a much older-looking Peggy and a pretty much the same-looking Hank as they move back to Arlen, Texas after spending time in Saudi Arabia working at a propane company to save up for retirement. However, Arlen has changed quite a lot since their 8 years away, where the couple must adapt to modern times, which won’t be too easy for Hank, who has always been very much stuck in his old ways.
King of the HillReboot’s new episodes will premiere on Hulu on August 4th.
