SCUM 1.0features a tutorial system for players, and it can really help themunderstand the fundamentals of the game. With that said, players can still see their food and hydration indicators fall all the way down to 0 and wonder how they are able to make a fire in the game.
Players will see plenty of items they believecan start firesbut can spend over an hour trying to figure out the process. Here is each step players will need to go through tomake fire inSCUM.

How to Build an Improvised Fireplace in SCUM 1.0
Players will first need tomake an Improvised Fireplacebefore they can make a fire. This will be where they make their fire, as they cannot just make one anywhere. This task can be more complicated than it needs to be if players try to find the right spot with enough resources in the vicinity. Here is a more intuitive approach. Players willnot find the Improvised Fireplace among their other craftable items, and will need to specificallyselect the Base Building tabnext to Items.
Players will then type “fire” into their search and find the Improved Fireplace among the Utility structures. Select this structure and place it where you would like it to be built. It can be wherever the player wishes. If players have items in their holsters, they can drop them by their fireplace for now. It may be agood idea to explore the surrounding areafor a good spot to set up.

Players can click on the details of the Improvised Fireplace to see the components listed as Long Sticks and Brake Oil. However, clicking on these will show there are alternatives they can use. Such as replacing Brake Oil with Tinder. Players can use rags, but these are better allocated to other uses early in the game. This is good as the gamestarts players off with practically nothing.
Now, players can use a stone knife to cut up a bush. This bush can be further away from their Improvised Fireplace. Players will want to make some Tinder and put it in their pocket and put some sticks in their holsters. Go back to the Improvised Fireplace and players will be able to interact with it to start crafting it using the items off their character. If players find enough sticks to make a bundle, this can save them some trips.

How to Light a Fire in SCUM 1.0
Lighting a fire can be done using a myriad of different items. These items will start a fire at different speeds. Some of the most convenient options, such as matches, will only come along later in the game. Players that wish to make fire early on will be able to do so with nothing but wood and stone. Which is pretty refreshing withhow tough the game can be.
Once the Improvised Fireplace is built, players will need to go and cut up another bush or two to have enough sticks tomake a Fire Drill. Put this in your character’s hands and approach the fire. Interact with it tonow see “Light Fire”as one of the options in Action.
