Elden Ring Nightreignoffers a 3-player Cooperative Twist on Elden Ring’s exceptional world exploration, combat systems, and brutal but fair boss fights. One resource you’ll likely find yourself always wanting more of, especially on a spellcaster build, is FP or “Focus Points.” These are the resource used to cast spells and use weapon skills, so being able to recover them is crucial to your success.
Unlike Elden Ring,Elden Ring Nightreigndoes not give players a Cerulean Flask at the start of the game to aid them in replenishing that vital blue resource. Instead, players will need to rely on items found in the world, environmental effects, and the skills of certain Nightfarers (like the Recluse, for example) if they want to be able to restore their FP reliably. This guide will break down all the methods of restoring FP available to players inElden Ring Nightreign.
Passing a Site of Grace
Naturally, passing a Site of Grace will restore your HP and FP to full, so whenever you’re near one you should make full use of this. This is the easiest and most reliable way of refilling your FP initially. However, it’s decidedly not practical during combat and exploration, so you’ll want to utilize the other methods on this list whenever you’re not near a Site of Grace.
You can see where Sites of Grace are by using the map, making it easy enough to track them down as you navigate Limveld. As always, they’re recognizable by their golden glow, and also serve as the only locations where you can spend Runes to increase your level.
Using Plants in the Environment
Certain plants you can find while navigating Limveld will restore FP when you interact with them. These plants are white with pale blue leaves, and they glow, which makes them fairly easy to spot as you roam Limveld. You can interact with them without slowing down, so they’re perfect for quickly restoring your FP on the move. (Players of Elden Ring may note that they look similar to crystal buds, which were used in the crafting of certain magic consumables.)
ensure to head for any unusual flora you see throughoutElden Ring Nightreign, since it almost always has beneficial effects, like restoring HP, restoring FP, curing status conditions, or even boosting Rune Acquisition.
Using Starlight Shards
Starlight Shards are a fairly common item you’ll find when breaking crates and inside some chests. When consumed, they restore a decent amount of your FP. If your playstyle relies heavily on casting spells or utilizing weapon arts, you should make sure that you pick these up whenever you’re able to, and keep a healthy supply in your inventory for emergencies and/or boss fights.
Having a few of these on hand is especially useful when heading into the fight against the Nightlord at the end of each expedition, ensuring that you won’t run out of FP while fighting the toughest fight that expedition has to offer. It may also be worth grabbing some throwing knives or Kukri while you’re breaking crates and barrels, just in case your FP runs out and you need a backup weapon at a distance.
The Recluse’s Character Skill & Ultimate Art
The Recluse begins each expedition with a staff, utilizing sorcery as her main weapon, so you might expect her to struggle with FP management. Luckily, her Passive Ability “Elemental Defense” allows her to restore FP whenever she absorbs affinity residues. By activating her Character Skill after an attack dealing Magic, Holy, Lightning, or Fire damage is used nearby, she can absorb the “affinity residue” from that attack.
Affinity Residue is stored and eventually used to activate her “Magic Cocktail” Character Skill, and the Recluse regains FP whenever she absorbs affinity residue. This means that she can reliably regain FP just by using her Character Skill whenever an attack using the aforementioned damage types is used near her. This includes her own spells, if you activate her Character Skill shortly after they connect, effectively refunding some of the FP used to cast the spell in the first place while also charging up Magical Cocktail. Magical Cocktail offers a ton of useful effects depending on the combination of affinity residue absorbed, so this FP refund will also help you set up some really strong attacks.
Her Ultimate Art, “Soulblood Song”, also aids her (and her allies) in restoring FP. When activated, all nearby enemies will be branded with a Blood Sigil. Whenever an enemy with a Blood Sigil is attacked, the attacker will gain some HP and FP, so players on the same team as the Recluse will also benefit greatly from this Ultimate Art. It works best when deployed against durable enemies, like Omens or bosses.
Cerulean Crystal Tear Flask
If you get particularly lucky when visiting merchants throughout Limveld, you might be able to purchase the Cerulean Crystal Tear Flask. This single-use item restores FP when used, acting as a much more potent version of the Starlight Shards mentioned earlier. Its rarity makes it a little harder to stock up on, but it’s always worth picking up on any character that spends a lot of FP (like the Recluse or Revenant).
Another useful flask to look out for at merchantsis the Cerulean Hidden Tear, which temporarily reduces all FP costs to 0 when used, allowing you to use powerful spells and weapon arts without worrying about the FP cost for a short time. This is just as powerful as ever when paired with spells that can be channeled to dish out huge amounts of damage, like Comet Azur, Crystal Torrent, and Gelmir’s Fury.
Passive Effects and Special Effects
Sometimes you’ll find weapons or talismans with effects that help with FP restoration as you explore Limveld, often in the form of passive effects that restore FP when performing critical strikes, landing consecutive attacks, or very slowly over time. These are invaluable to any build that makes heavy use of FP, so verify to grab them whenever you see them.
Special Effects acquired from Dormant Power can also have these properties, so if you get lucky you can restore your FP fairly easily by using these. Dormant Power will sometimes appear when especially strong enemies are defeated, and will always appear after a boss is slain, so take down plenty of tough foes for your best chances of finding a useful Special Effect for your build.
Since Dormant Power can also give you weapons, this is also a good way of tracking down weapons with beneficial effects, as discussed earlier in this section. Effects that raise maximum FP are also quite useful on builds utilizing lots of spells or focusing on the use of a strong weapon skill.
