The main questline forTainted Grail: The Fall of Avalonhas several branching paths, but despite that, the story will still converge in certain points regardless of what players choose. One such example happens early on in the Shadows of the Horns quest, which will have players repair a gong related to an old Keeper ritual by the sea.
Like with most quests inTainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, Shadows of the Horns won’t hold the player’s hand, and while there will be quest markers involved, the actual steps needed to progress the quest might still be confusing. Such is the case with the gong repair step, so here’s a quick guide to help out with that.
How to Repair the Gong in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
By the end of the Shadows of the Horns quest, you’ll be asked to decide betweenhelping Breandan or Galahad, and regardless of who you side with, your new ally will tell you to perform a ritual in the Sunken Village. There’s one problem: the ritual gong is broken, and to fix it, you need to get the wrecked gong and have the local blacksmith repair it.
Broken Gong Location
The quest marker will lead you to the Sunken Village, which is just north of the Horns Keep. Follow the marker to the village, and you should be able to seea gateway of sorts on top of a big rock just past the shore. Swim to it, and you should be able topick up the broken gong on the ground. It’s a small item that blends into the mossy rock almost perfectly, making it hard to see at first.
Repairing the Gong
Before the blacksmith can fix the gong, he’s going to need materials. He’ll ask you to bring him15 Ethereal Cobwebs, which you’re able to easily get by killing Wyrd monsters at night. They shouldn’t be that tough to kill early on, but still, consider upgrading your gearfirst.
Find a campfire (or place one yourself) and pass the time untilaround 22:00 in-game. Wyrd phantoms should now be roaming the world. A good place to check is the Sunken Village itself, as some of these ghosts tend to spawn right next to the fast travel point there.
Once you get enough Cobwebs, go back to the blacksmith and have him fix the gong for you. Then, return to the gateway off the coast, place the gong, and ring it. A cutscene will play, and the rest of the main story will proceed as normal.
If any part of this quest is bugging out for you, you can always attempt to brute force Arthur’s soul fragment away from Excalibur. Prepare several dozen health potions, and drink them all while you’re touching Excalibur.
